Been on a Top Gear binge working backwards. Up (down?) to season 8. Their specials are just the best thing.

Word! I can watch specials repeatedly and it's still goddamn precious. Every time.

Anyway, started & finished season 1 and 2 of Ray Donovan. Can't wait for January.

Recently got into American Horror Story. Each series is its own self-contained story (though I hear there are some connections with the current season and some earlier seasons). The first season was Murder House, set in a house where anyone who dies inside is trapped there as a spirit. Currently im on the second episode of season 2, Asylum, set in an abandoned... mental asylum. It's pretty sick.

AHS was never afraid of being ridiculous, but that third season was really so over the top cheesy and annoying with that lalalalalala music theme it made me give up on it. They kinda redeem themselves in the 4th. Even if I seriously question 95% of the cast's acting abilities. I think I've stuck with the series because I love Jessica Lange and don't mind Sarah Paulson.

I'm towards the end of it now, and 'm liking it less with every episode. It's too much like a soap opera

Started watching True Detective. Looks promising, love the acting and the gloomy atmosphere it emanates.

Also finished the second season of House of Cards a few days back, and while I enjoy it, I have the feeling the series of events are just over the top making it almost comical Acting is still boss and I suppose season 3 will be a fun watch anyway

True Detective is fucking sweet. The key term for that series is "Southern Gothic", you gotta keep in mind that everything decays, it all decays.

I see nothing comic about House of Cards as a whole.

Just finished Arrow 1st season. Absolutely awesome!

One of the few shows both me and my gf can watch together... violent but no gore which helps... cool story lines but I think the action sequences could be filmed a bit better... the last episode in this season (3rd) had an epic sword fight though at the end between Arrow and Ra's Al Ghul.

Yep, Southern Gothic seems accurate. Digging all the doom & gloom, love all the dialogues parts the two detectives do when looking back at the case.

I read it was kind of boring but I like politic/religious stuff so I decided to I would give it a shot anyways... however... then I read it got cancelled and ultimately opted not to invest time on something that could leave me hanging too cruelly.

Mary N. if you actually finish the series and if it isn't too much to ask, could you let me know if the series as a whole was worth it or if the last episode kind of wraps things well enough, I mean, like for example, like not ending with an awful cliffhanger?

I have this show for watching, decided to give it a shot after so much praise and having the guy who I know from Parks and Recreation and American Hustle. I am thinking on starting to watch the show after I finish Party Down.

So this must be the reason why Russians who grew up in the Soviet era are so insanely robotic and incapable of fear and trauma. They were watching mind altering stuff like this:
