i was looking through this forum and found that many people like music which i consider shit. nothing wrong with that, but it made me curious as to what do people on here truly despise.

i, for one, hate improvisational jazz mainly, when the only one who isn't soloing is the drummer playing in 17/13 time signature a 32-bar rhythm.. sure, you're technical, but.... no emotion in your playing, therefore YOU SUCK!

In all seriousness, though, they are really fascinating to me. You see some crappy shit out there, but something like this happens only once in many years.
In a way, they are more unique than 90% of good bands.

Agree. It's a similar feeling when you are taking a shit and when youm are done and look at it. It turns out that it's such an unusual creation in terms of form or colours that you want to tell someone.... It's shit, but a special one.

Not related to the thread, but that reminded me of how, when I was 4 years old or so, my little brother would be hiding behind the shower when I crapped, so he could look at it when I was done. I think I did the same when he crapped, can't remember.

I hate songs which rely heavily on computers to create it (like most modern pop), but I hate rap even more than I hate pop that has been autotuned (my viewpoint being if you can't sing, don't pretend you can, as it will show up when you perform live). Why? Basically, take a modern pop song and, instead of having a guy who can sing, have him talk in rythmn. That is a hell of a lot more annoying, as these guys are basically taking up good places for people who can actually sing.

That shit that you hear on the radio isn't real rap. Lots of underground and oldschool rap is great.

Heh, forgot I put this here. But you've got a point: since I posted that, I've heard some more rap and, whilst I'm still not a fan of the genre by any stretch of the imagination, I do acknowledge that there is some decent stuff that just seems to get buried by the shit on the radio.

Most of the reggae i've heard, Bob Marley, burning spears, Glen Washington, Morgan Heritage e.t.c is about whining about your problems. More like emo music only that we have dreadlocks and whiffs of ganja. And plus, no hating, but their version of english i find it pathetic and annoying

Unlike emo music, Jamaicans live in one of the poorest and violent countries in the world, I think that gives them a right to "whine." Also you think their version of english is pathetic? That's borderline racist.

trust me, Kenya is no better. That doesnt give you the right to sing about your problems all day and night.fuckn do something about it. Racist¿ Man, personaly english is just a language i know because my country was colonized by the British. So, am just saying. And plus in kenya we have lots of posers who think speaking that way is sooo COOL. Reggae is the most popular out here, so i am speaking 4rm xperience.
What do u enjoy in reggae anyway?

I just enjoy it. Everything from the lyrics to the musical qualities itself. And really can you please give me an example of Bob Marley whining too much?

@Fae Vex: Ahaha, you can't whine in music but should do something about it? Do you not understand that music like emo, reggae, punk etc. is often political action itself? It's actually a very effective way to change attitudes and mobilize people. I'm sorry if you get offended by these people actually perceiving something wrong with the world and having something to say about it. It probably more comfortable to listen to Hammerfall's Nth song about some mythical templars of steel that foster an imaginary fraternity between the global community of metal, but those kids getting beat up in filthy concrete arenas for playing the music they need to play probably don't care about your discomfort.

I think it's mostly Americans (including Canadans, apparently) who hate country. Apparently it's some kind of nicer or more adult option to mainstream pop, really mass-produced and tasteless. Well, that kind of country doesn't make it to our radio and TV at all so I know nothing about it. To me, country is amazing artists like Will Oldham, Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, 16 Horsepower, The Handsome Family, etc. Good country is some of the best music around period, few genres get quite as dark and harrowing.

On this side of the ocean we call anything with a "Southern drawl" (not even necessary most of the time) and an acoustic guitar singing about anything from the golden era of country to break-ups and other personal issues as country.

It's not even really country anymore. Just pop but with a "country image" or whatever. Throw cowboy boots on Britney Spears, give her a grandpa guitar, and bam. Her next album is a country album.

Dalek is fantastic and "Absence" is the only hip-hop album I can honestly say I adore. Who knew hip-hop could have industrial and noise elements and a suffocatingly dark atmosphere?
