24.12.2014 - 22:36 Written by Darth Satanious on 23.12.2014 at 06:30 Well, the series was suggested to me by my brother as he knew I have deep interest in themes you mentioned but it left me bored because I expected more. Those themes could be presented more deeply, for me it was like the entertaining feature of the series were much more emphasized by exaggerating ornaments, too much showy decoration, putting the unnecessary dramatic moments or eroticism, don't get me wrong, I'm actually an advocator eroticism in any sort of art, I enjoy it a lot but this time it was dragged into the story in a somewhat immature manner, however, it's a good show for anyone who is not having high expectation of deep approach on those themes. And I wouldn't know the ending, as no one else will know, apparently the show was canceled due to the complaints.

Sci-fi geeks help me out, here. I need to know if I've missed anything essential, and get some recommendations on quality sci-fi to watch in the future. I have seen: Babylon 5 Battlestar Galactica (remake), Caprica Farscape Firefly Heroes Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, Universe Star Trek TOS (well, still incomplete), TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise The X-Files (some of it anyway) First season of Fringe And now watching the new Doctor Who series. I doubt there's anything out there that can come close to Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Firefly, Farscape or B5, but is there anything even remotely worthwhile left to see? I don't mind if it's animated, either. (It occurs to me I may have asked a similar question before, but if so, I've already forgotten the recommendations I didn't pick up on.)

Account deleted Written by IronAngel on 04.01.2015 at 01:43 I'd love to know this too seeing as the majority of those are my favourite sci-fi shows, but I think you've got them all. They're not quite the same calibre, type or just a bit old but there's things like: The Prisoner Quantum Leap Outer Limits Utopia (have only seen the first series but it's quite good, but not all that sci-fi) maybe Orphan Black (not bad, not all that sci-fi either though I guess) Misfits (not all that much my thing but it's quite fun I suppose) Torchwood (that adult Doctor Who spin-off. It's not bad actually). Lost (personally I love the show, even though it makes little sense and is quite ridiculous) Max Headroom (Very dated and of its time, but not bad) If you want to look into anime and haven't already you'd probably want to look at: Cowboy Bebop Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex Serial Experiments Lain Planetes Texhnolyze Maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion (I love it, but it's perhaps a bit more "anime" than the others, until you get to the very end and then the film) I seem to get less and less open to new series these days so there's lots I haven't seen. Haven't seen any of these (aside from Orphan Black) but some of them sound interesting, Sense 8 and a 12 Monkeys series (news to me) in particular: http://omnireboot.com/2014/best-science-fiction-tv-shows/

04.01.2015 - 02:29 Written by IronAngel on 04.01.2015 at 01:43 FlashForward It was very good, I watched up to episode 11 and paused for reasons I can't remember and then it got cancelled. I don't know how "complete" the series ended but I was told the last episode left things opened for continuation. Orphan Black Canadian series about a woman who finds out that she is a clone and has several other clones identical to her. The corporation behind the cloning tries to exercise control over them and things become a struggle for the protagonist and other clones to stay away from the grasp and control of said corporation. Maslany has been greatly praised for her portrayal of the different clones and it is understandable why when you feel that each clone, portrayed by Maslany, is like a completely different person. I found the first season the best of the two. Looking forward to season 3. There's Marvel Agents of Shield which is created by Joss Whedon (Firefly, The Avengers) but you probably know about it already. There are some series from SyFy but I haven't checked them out yet so I can't recommend them. That's all for now.

Account deleted Written by Ilham on 07.12.2014 at 14:21 I just finished watching Season 2 of AHS... it certainly is ridiculous but it is addictive... the thing I hate about stuffing all that mythology into one show (possession, aliens, nazis, serial killers) is that they really seem to have no intention on having closure... it is like that show Lost which I avoided because I don't like conclusions that are wide open for interpretation... either that or a whole bunch of exposition occurs which sucks as well... Jessica Lange I agree is excellent and when she plays crazy I believe.

04.01.2015 - 13:16 Written by [user id=132675] on 04.01.2015 at 13:09 Totally agree. In every season they mix different horror themes together in a way I wouldn't have believed someone would dare to. Which makes it incredibly cheesy. But I have something for horror in general, and I just couldn't keep myself from going back to it. As you said, they pile events on top of each other but it never really reaches a conclusion. The finales are always disappointing. The third season is the worst to date. I rarely choose to drop a series in the middle of a season, but I did for that one. The fourth is a little better. I seriously have a non-sexual crush on Jessica Lange. Young bitches really don't know how to act .

Account deleted Written by Ilham on 05.01.2015 at 00:31 I actually don't like Anne Hathaway which is why I posted her with that stretched out skull smile. I hated that movie The Devil Wears Prada so my history of hating on her started there. Then I had a gf who I found out loved that movie and Anne... it ended badly. Have you ever met a sociopath, perhaps even a psychopath like the one in your avatar? I'm not sure if I've met any psychos but for sure I've had friends who were nothing more than masks with selfish creeps beneath. Some of those people make great actors. For some reason my sociopath alarm goes off with Hathaway, maybe because she reminds me of that ex-gf?

05.01.2015 - 12:01 Written by [user id=132675] on 05.01.2015 at 05:17 Haha, now that's a story I didn't expect. I thought you were waving your favourite young oscar-winner as a an argument. I personally don't care about her, there are very few known young actresses that can do a real acting job in my opinion. Or they start out like shit because they were chosen for their looks and eventually learn how to actually portray emotions and characters.

Account deleted Written by Ilham on 05.01.2015 at 12:01 I thought about your dismissal of young actors but I find there are plenty of actors good enough for the roles they have... female actors usually have to be attractive to get jobs more so then men actors so perhaps that is part of the equation for why young women actresses might be less capable... they don't have to be talented actors... I usually have issues with the plot, dialog, and director before I start hating on the actors. I think teen actors are the worst though. I watched Mazerunner the other day and watching those lousy kid actors get slaughtered by the maze beasts made me smile.

05.01.2015 - 13:29 Written by [user id=132675] on 05.01.2015 at 13:15 I think you're reading too much into that first joke haha. I'm not in front of my screen hating on an actor because he's young . It just so happens that the young ones sharing the screen with Lange collectively look pretty bad compared to her. When you get to season four, you'll see the example of a "pretty boy" who got a role just because he must have been a model or pornstar or something before, and he ruins every scene he's in. Don't start me on teen actors.

Changing the setting is kind of a bummer coz Rust and Marty were such good characters, I only hope the new season keeps the lugubrious atmosphere that revolves around everything, it's what made the serie so fascinating.

I don't really see them changing the atmosphere up too much. I do like the location that they chose though (Northern California). I was pretty bummed out when I saw the main cast for season 2 but I'm still super excited for it and I think the producers can make it work.

20.01.2015 - 22:41 Written by MetalDoomMaster on 13.01.2015 at 02:29 The Wire is literary my favourite TV show ever. Nothing comes close, the depth of a novel put into the screen, incredible when you see "the whole picture". I have been waiting for the HD remasters to rewatch it a... sixth time. But maybe later. I am in no hurry.

They did a pretty good job with the remaster, so I would recommend watching it again haha, although they somehow missed an episode. Not sure how that happened.

20.01.2015 - 23:12 Written by MetalDoomMaster on 20.01.2015 at 22:55 If you dig it, I would also recommend the books that inspired it, Homicide by David Simon. There's also the old series "Homicide : Life on the streets", which is a scratch version of The Wire, some episodes are nice, but most of them fail - some nice interrogation scenes here and there.
