From the list, Akerfeldt for me. He has power and presents behind his growls, strong and deep. Best example of this would be from Opeth's track 'Demon Of The Fall', favourite track by the band mostly because of Mikael's presents and strength with the growls. Another thing I love about his vocals is that he has one of my favourite growls, but he has really good clean soothing vocals aswell.

Psycroptic's former vocalist Matthew Chalk has to have a metion in here. He has THE most unique growls that i have heard. Hard to understand, the growls are deep and also uses shreak like growls. Second choice would have gone to him.

The old Kataklysm vocalist is awsome, check out the track 'Orb Of Creation' the growls in that are sick and monsterious. not sure how much are actually his though or its modified, none the less they great.

I would complain about In Flames being in this poll rather than Arch Enemy!! I dont really consider the I.F vocalist as a 'growler' as such, but Angela is sure a good growler.

Yes i can. Growls are growls no matter how you look at them. Angela doesn't "shout". Good growls that surpass a fair number of male vocalists, so i don't question their position in this poll.

And about your Kataklysm question: as you can see, they aren't in the poll. So that answers it.

Yeah In Flames definetly doesn't have any growls to be seen nowadays but back in the day they did, up until about Whoracle or Colony.

Argh how did I forget him though I still think Akerfeldt has the best growls overall John Tardy has the sickest voice I've ever heard. I think his best work was on Slowly We Rot, he sounds so insane.

I voted Micheal Akerfeldt...............They are more daemonic and spooky,really cool,he makes the whole band real cool are eerie,to say,like the album 'Deliverance' ,that is really cool...

But if we want to speak about the sickest voice we should go to Grindcore bands.

I voted for Michael Akerfeldt a while back without really thinking about it, but I think Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation and the dude from Demilich are better. Their voices are inhumanly low.

I agree. Especially when you compare his voice back then to his voice now.

I wasn't saying he is bad or anything, but definitely not in the top 8.

Obviously this poll wasn't made according to your opinions. There's really no reason to get annoyed if they don't happen to be your favourites.

I have voted for other. Personaly i think there are lots of other growlers much more better and succesfull that deserve a place on the list. I think those here ( and don't take this as an offence ) are way too overrated. Maybe i shoud not say this, but i will say it and don't take this serious ( thread creator ), u could check out some other bands beside those. Listen to some brutal death, or even grind core, or whatever. And then u could make a list that includes more death styles than those above.

Anyway, i will vote for several bands and growlers:

Karl Willets - Bolt Thrower
Chris Barnes - Cannibal Corpse ( early band )
George Corpsegrinder Fisher - Cannibal Corpse
John Tardy - Obituary
Dave Ingram - Benediction
Barney Greenway - Napalm Death
