You'll have to excuse me. Right now, I am a bit overwhelmed. There is so much to do. I came here to do a brief review of Rush's Moving Pictures. I just realized, that is absolutely impossible.

This album was the first album that I bought from Rush. It is really, truly a brilliant album. I've listened to it many times since I got it three years ago. It grows on you a lot. There are so many elements to it that make it such a classic. I know you all know what kind of classic is this, but let's say something about this album.

A truly brilliant album. Standout track for me is Witch Hunt-so different to the others yet really powerful.

Their debut is my all time progressive rock masterpiece !
I didn't like the rest of their albums, sounds too sissy.

Btw why rock albums are here ? Rock Storm ?

Because early Rush is close to Heavy Metal.

Because early Rush is close to Heavy Metal.

It actually has more to do with their influence and significance. That, and we also feature a lot of prog rock bands here due to its similarities with prog metal, so the "metal" part does have some merit.

Yeah, I think lots of Rush songs are progressive hard rock (not Metal) but some are more like progressive Metal.
And yes, Rush influenced countless Metal musicians.

I was thinking awhile ago while skating about how much I actually love Rush and this album. I can remember being like 5 or 6 listening to Tom Sawyer over and over again. Damn, what a great album.

Fun fact: Tom Sawyer was the first song that inspired me to play air guitar. it was Juke Box Hero by Foreigner that helped me perfect my technique though.

I remember hearing "Tom Sawyer" from an episode of Futurama (love that show). This album is awesome.

I guess the double meaning is the clue here.

I don't know why this Rush album has such a high ranking, it's very good, but I don't think it's for a 9, just as there are other albums by this band that are even more overrated in my opinion.

I disagree here (there is no such thing as "the best prog rock album ever", anyone can come up with an album, right?) , but I'm happy you love the album.

Well it's an absolutely brilliant album, there is no doubt about that, no bad songs here at all, some real excellent one's here like the classic "Tom Sawyer", "Limelight", and of course the progressive masterpiece "Camera Eye". They once again showed their excellent songwriting skills, and masterful musicianship.

In general I would say this is their most enjoyable to listen to, but I prefer Hemispheres overall. I As much as I appreciate Rush, I simply cannot compare them to the likes of Pink Floyd or King Crimson, as both of those bands are legendary in their own way, and each have their very own uniqueness that cannot be matched by any other band.

Obviously a masterpiece and one of the most influential prog albums of all time. In my top 50 albums of all time.

9.4/10 for me - 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Red Barchetta' are the standout songs. 'YYZ' is also great. All songs are good though, can't go wrong with any track on this album.
