Stemming from the brain of twisted genius Vindsval emanates Blut Aus Nord's black metal masterpiece: "The Work Which Transforms God." With such a grandiose album title you'd expect nothing less from the French trio.

Imagine yourself stranded alone in a post-apocalyptic metropolis that's cloaked in a blanket of perpetual darkness and despair, violent storms evoking harrowing winds that crush the dead structures that surround you, all the while you cower pathetically in a tiny hole waiting for your timely death... This is just one of the countless possible nightmares this piece will allow you the displeasure of experiencing. I hate to talk about "atmospheres" when it comes to black metal as it seems a little contrived nowadays but with this album it's unavoidable. So, for the purpose of this review I'll restrict my description to simple, concise words:

There's a reason why they called this "The Work Which Transforms God". Even God would find listening to this to be a transformative experience.

Um... track 10 is supposed to be named "Inner Metal Cage", not "Inner Mental Cage" (I'm holding the vinyl in my hands right now). Guess I'll go fix that.

I think that might be a typo on the vinyl. Inner Mental Cage is what it is basically everywhere else, Bandcamp and all. The "Metal" version seems to be a very recent variant going by Google =P

Track is called "Inner Mental Cage". I am holding the Appease Me pressing of the cd in my hands right now.

Haha weird. Didn't realize they would've made a typo on the vinyl casing. I thought I saw the same thing on the CD casing, but I guess I didn't see what I thought I saw.

First time listening to this in a couple of years. I shouldn't wait that long.
The Howling of God really is an underrated song (that second half!).

Mostly in the mechanical riffing and synth work that are used to create a cold and desolate atmosphere with an underlying tone of abrasiveness.

Okay thanks, I am associating Industrial with Rammstein and that kind of sound, so was kindof confused when I heard what I heard 😂 didn't like it at all, expect from the last song which has a very nice doomy sound to it

I'm still not sure what to make of this album, I've listened to it many times, and it's kind of weird, unlike anything I've heard before, it has a bizarre, industrial machinery sound mixed with a dark ambience, making it so unique.

Procession Of The Dead Clowns, The Choir Of The Dead, and Blessed Frozen Cells were all highlights for me from this album, most of the other tracks sounded a little bit too similar, but still made for decent background noise if nothing else.

First time listening to this in a long time. Still very mechanical and has that really dreary grey atmosphere I love. Some of the longer tracks drag on a bit, especially the second track. "Axis", "Our Blessed Frozen Cells" and "Procession Of The Dead Clowns" are the best BaN tracks ever, and those three alone make this album a worthy listen.

When was it reissued?

EDIT: found it! Pre-order secured. Since leaving social media it has been not easy keeping up with new music/tours/merch.

Still the best thing this band ever released. Hail the impending industrial apocalypse!

Also I adore that Godflesh cover.
