And I'll vote other, since my fav growler is Chris Barnes.

Mikael does great growls, but i will choose the other, Glen Benton(Deicide) is imo the best one out there.

Mike Akerfeldt is by no doubt the best death vocalist with his impecable ability to swift vocal forms without any complication, what so ever. The things he did with Opeth, Bloodbath, Ayreon, Katatonia and Edge of Sanity are supreme.

Akerfeldt has great growls. I think that his growls are better with Bloodbath (first album- Ressurection Through Carnage) but the way he can change from growls to clean vocals with Opeth is really unique.

i am voting for Akerfeldt cause he does the best GROWLS
if the topic was the best brutal vox it would sertenly Friden
but these guys, both of tem, have unique voices!
the way they change from brutal to clean and clean to brutal is simply amazing!!

I say Nergal. His vocals on "Demigod" are just nuts. He was pretty good on Behemoth's earlier stuff, but on Demigod the vocals are so much more in your face (IE higher in the mix). There's just something different about Nergal's singing on the most recent album, it sounds a lot different (but good).

Mikael is pretty good too, but I personally get a bit tired of his growls after a while. It's good that he adds some variety and dynamics with his clean singing (which has gotten exponentially better with each Opeth release).

Masse Broberg (old Hypocrisy/God Aong Insects) have the best Death Metal growling... well, he's also the vocalist of Dark Funeral (as Magnus Caligula), but in that band he doesn't matches what he did as Death Metal singer.

I voted for Bloodbath. Both Pete Tagtgren and Mikael Akerfeldt are 2 of the best in death metal. Their vocals are incredibly punishing.

Definatly Mikael Akerfeldt his work with Opeth, Bloodbath and Katatonia is nothing short of amazing

Yeah, all the guys in the list are amazing, but Angela certainly stands out.

I voted 'Other'.
Even though it is still for Mikael Akerfeldt.
Except I like his vocals more with Bloodbath.
Opeth coming a very close second.
Followed by his work with Katatonia.

Funny how Lord Worm wasn't mentioned,I mean all he does is growl,I mean he has a gift to be able to do that without losing his voice.Same with Martin Van Druen and John Tardy,inhumane vocals.

All those bands have very nice growls, but a band that kicks all their asses is Lord Gore, their so fucking insane with their growls its unbelievable just so diffrent so low, so brutal, you cant go wrong with them, the vocalist is a master of his art for sure.

I chose death because they probably have the greatest vocal variation from album to album, From straight out Harsh Raging screams to Tortured bloody growels (Bloody Gore?) So that's why I chose Death.

P.S.- I think "Of one Blood" Era Shadows Fall Should be on here as well.

I don't know how natural they are, but Antti Boman of Demilich has vocals that sound like he's possessed. It actually sounds like Satan in my headphones when I listen to them.

He has the most inhumane growl of all time. However, I hate picking "Other" so from the list I'll have to go with Nergy. Though Mr. Wade is right behind him.

Mikael Stanne, so i vote for Dark Tranquillity and In Flames

Mikael Stanne-he gets the pronunciation of the words just right, while still spitting them out...aggression and clarity, and it augments the music perfectly.

Notable mentions to Antti Boman of Demilich for pure 'Wtf?'.

...and Chris Barnes is one mighty guy (even if i don't like him very much).

I've only seen one other post that even mentions Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth. To me he's the best, especially on The Crusher and Fate of Norns. I don't like his vocals on the new album quite as much but I still think he's amazing.

Torsofuck, Demilich, Lord Worm...they all fucking own, they own so much it hurts.
But Ruben Rosas rapes the shit out of your ears.
