Anathema, Opeth, Mastodon, Ihsahn, and numerous other major artists are all moving out of the metal scene. Many of their newer works are receiving lower scores for not being "metal enough" and going too far outside of the acceptable boundaries of fans of their earlier work. It was a joke, people  I just think it's on par with their previous two albums, The Lost Song parts are pure brilliance. Most of all, I'm surprised with the below 8 rating.

I loved this album when it first came out, but it really didn't have any staying power at all. A shame, really.

It's alright, nothing special, not highly dissapointing either. I'm listening to it now, don't remember if I have heard it before and forgotten everything, don't know if I'll ever listen to it again fully. I'm preferring "The Lost Song Part 2" and the title track to others for now, and it's likely I'll return these songs and most of the other songs will be neglected.

It's... ok. I remember being very disappointed after loving Weather Systems to death, but Distant Satellites isn't bad at all. The bar is already set so high with the band's output that unless the record's something revolutionary and mindblowing it tends to not feel as high quality as it could if it was released by some another band.
