I have to add Forgotten Tomb - Negative Megalomaniac, though it's not very new it's now that I'm listening to it. What a good album it keep my attention from the beggining though some of the lyrics are a turn off for me, a mix of heavyness and more lighter passages yet keeping in that dark melancholy atmosphere, the best song would be No Rehab (Final Exit). So far Winds, Jesu and Forgotten Tomb are on the top of the list.

The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand is also a great release. Really didn't see that coming, fans of extreme music, in particular drone/doom should check it!

One thing I have to say is that 2007 has been one heck of a year for ProgMetal. I mean, just look at the list: Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet Deadsoul Tribe - A Lullaby For The Devil Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement Symphony X - Paradise Lost Opeth _The Roundhouse Tapes Three - The End Has Begun Devin Townsend - Ziltoid The Omniscient Circus Maximus - Isolate Pagan's Mind - God's Equation Pain Of Salvation - Scarsick Poverty's No Crime - Save My Soul For me, this has been the best year for Prog in a long, long time. Personally, my favorites have been Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Three, Deadsoul Tribe, Riverside and Devin Townsend.

Just heard Locus Mortis' - Voust IT. not that original, but pretty good and entertaining non endless. Major influence is Casus Luciferi-era Watain and Glorior Belli. this is like the 6 or 7th good orthodox bm album this year. yay.

I haven't actually got that many albums from this year due to my now not downloading. However I have picked up so far. Arch Enemy - Rise Of The Tyrant [7/10] Darkthrone - F.O.A.D. [5/10] Finntroll - Ur Jordens Djup [6/10] Korpiklaani - Tervaskanto [8/10] Nightwish - Dark Passion Play [7/10] Overkill - Immortalis [7/10] Sigh - Hangmans Hymn [9/10] Turisas - The Varangian Way [8/10] So a throughly average year I think - quite disappointed by Finntroll and Darkthrone releases, but equaled out by a stunning release by Sigh.

Now that the year is about to end, I've got this: My picks Dark Moor - Tarot: After the not so good Beyond the Sea (except for the wonderful Vivaldi's cover), I didn't expect this record, IMO is the best Effort from the spanish without Elisa, as they return to the strong symphonic sound and the neoclassical melodies, good one. 8.5 Moi dix Mois - Dixanadu: another return, after the experiment with industrial and electronic sounds, Mana's band bring a perfect mix with the last album electronic with the baroque sound of their first album, still being original.8.5 Arch Enemy - Rise of the Tyrant: If ain't broke, don't fix it, as simple as that. I like their sound so much, that I can enjoy this sound for a couple of years more, you know female growls, catch us (we, the guys)8 Dark Tranquillity - Fiction the same as Arch Enemy, if ain't broke, don't fix it, nothing new but that sound is so good that I even could receive well a new album with this sound.8 Gamma Ray - Land of the Free II, Kai didn't screwed it this time!!!, the Power metal god, brought us what we just was expecting, a return to the glorious, epic, fast, heavy and melodic sound of the original Land of the Free era, IMO maybe the band's finest even surpassing the original LotF and Powerplant.9.5 Machine Head - The Blackening, one of the few thrash albums of the year (I haven't had chance to listen to Necrodeath's Draculea), the band's finest, heavy, aggressive, fast, all what you can expect from a real thrash album combined with the modern sound.9 Letdowns/Dissapointments I don't want to bash the bands out so I'll just write a list: Manowar - Gods of War Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao Apocalyptica - Worlds Collide Marduk - Rom 5:12 Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli Iced Earth - Framin... Blah, blah, blah

Ive been waiting until the end of the year to post in this thread. For me its been a great year, very few albums I purchased have been letdowns, here is my list of albums that have been worth my money/time: Behemoth-The Apostasy Black Sabbath-The Dio Years Danzig-Lost Tracks Of Danzig Devildriver-The Last Kind Words Ensiferum-Victory Songs Finntroll-Ur Jordens Djup Hail Of Bullets-Promo CD High On Fire-Death Is This Communion Manowar-Gods Of War Marduk-Rom 5:12 Megadeth-United Abominations Municipal Waste-The Art Of Partying Ozzy Osbourne-Black Rain Pelican-City Of Echoes Shakra-Infected The 69 Eyes-Angels Turisas-The Varangian Way My wastes of money: Mayhem-Ordo Ad Chao Iron Fire-Blade Of Triumph I think the ratio of worthwhile albums to crap albums was pretty good for me, better than most years. Now lets see the concerts I went to this year (headlining bands listed only): Dimmu Borgir Chimaira Heaven & Hell/Megadeth Cannibal Corpse Melechesh Van Halen And a shitload of local shows. None of those concerts were a waste of time or money for me, overall my favorite concert had to go to Heaven & Hell/Megadeth, Ill remember that one for a long time.

2007 isn't a bad year, at least. I like the Akercocke album, and the Rotting Christ album isn't bad (Though I preferred some of their older albums), Anaal Nathrakh's new album is good, Dissident Saint's album is too (the vocals are quite original, IMO), as was Benighted's album, and Reverend Bizarre's final album was awesome.
