IMO it is better top listen to rap than to crap such as Alestorm, DragonForce, European Flower Metal, 99% of folk metal. There is more sincerity and street credibility in than in the music I just named

Now that was fun...oh wait, it wasn't, I'm joking too.

I study with almost everything, for example I'm listening to Immortal right now, It depends on my mood.

I can't study with music, I need total silence and that even to read a book for pleasure. This is actually a pain in the arse as I cannot study or read for to long as music is always calling for me.

More ambient type black metal I find. Leviathan I can usually study/read/write well with.

Anything familiar really... can't listen to something new though because i get distracted and want to appreciate the music. as you can see, i am awful at multi-tasking

My study habbits are pretty fucking bad, so i need complete silence to read and study

Since I have a better idea-flow when there's some music playing I usually pick something boring, but not annoying, like Dream Theater or Liquid Tension Experiment. Stuff that just "is there", whitout having anything that would distract (something that doesn't make me go "whoa, that was cool" or "that was painfully bad") me from my studies, but still forming a nice background. I've experimented with ambient too, but that didn't really work out, because I tended to zone out and lose concentration.

Reading (more than 2-3 a4 pages) is a whole different matter, I usually need silence to keep my concentration, especially if the materials are really boring or really dry (like legalese or academic-ese). If the material is interesting, then it doesn't matter what I'm listening to, as I won't practically notice it.

I put Other - I like to study when I'm listening to a variety of music. I usually make playlists on my iPod that combine instrumental, various forms of metal, techno music, and video game music all in one. I feel that a change of pace when it comes to music when I'm studying or doing homework, or even other activites that require concentration helps me a lot.

I absolutely can't study witout some old raw black metal playing on the background.

I would suggest thrash metal it will give you good energy and will to kick that exames straight in the ass

Jazz is good for studying (it works in my case ) and some medieval or baroque music can be uplifting.

Lately i have found myself sometimes liking to read by listening to classical music. it is really relaxing and it helps a lot that it doesnt have lyrics... it's just music..

I can only listen to trash when I'm learning maths Otherwise it's to agressive that I would be able to stuy any other subject...

I study to Irish folk music.

If I have to read I generally need silence, however when doing math or the like, I prefer listening to Aggrotech/industrial music.
