so you will pay 80 euros + gas money and take three days off from work just to see Bloodbath, Kreator and Nevermore? i wish i could spend money like you do
on a side note, this fest would look pretty tempting to me too, with about 7-8 bands i'd love to watch, too bad it's right in the middle of my exams session in May.

No. I'll pay 80+ euros + gas money PLUS youth hostle money and then leave right after Bloodbath played, just to show off how rich I am.

hahahahaha you owned me on this one
i do understand how you feel about Bloodbath though, Tiamat playing Wildhoney at Wacken is kind of a Hellfest deal breaker for me if you know what i mean.. so far Wacken is winning mostly due to them and Slayer/Maiden, in almost every other way(ticket cost, people attending, transport) HF and W are at a dead tie for me.

I've listened to that one a couple of days ago. I haven't really gotten into it yet. I'll spend more time with it though.

The Devil's Blood as headliners of the first day? I didn't think they were that overhyped.

Now that I've actually listened to them I have to agree. That will be difficult to cope with, closing the night with boring phycho-rock after the place was set on fire by Bloodbath. Maybe they want to calm the people to prevent loud partying all night
But apparently The Devil's Blood scored a big deal with Rock Hard. The issue they sent me with the tickets features a huge interview with them praising them to the heavens. We'll see how well they'll be received.

Rock Hard does get massive hard ons concerning The Devil's Blood. Every single time I go and see The Devil's Blood in Holland (as opener for some band or another) loads of Rock Hard's editorial staff plus more Germans than Dutch people are there to see them. Götz Khünnemünd (or however you spell his name) is The Devil's Blood fanboy/groupie number one TDB are HUGE in Germany with the orhtodox black metal crowd and also with the mainstream whereas here in The Netherlands they will draw medium to small sized crowds at max.
As for where I stand. I find them fun on album but live utterly booooooring.

That I did not expect. I was pretty sure that you'd find them utterly boring and boring, not to mention boring through and through. I'm not bringing Kalisia up here but TDB fun on CD? Clearly we differ in our conception of fun
Seems they are bigger than I expected then. A friend and I sat down and listened to a few of the bands we'll be seeing next week and there was a huge "wtf?!" moment when we came to TDB. Just not what we expected. Neither by name nor playing a headline slot on a festival like this.

Seen them yesterday at Metalfest Austria, for the first time. Great music to chill out as long as the woman shuts her trap. But perhaps it was only the sound techs' fault as the vocals were far too prominent compared with their studio works. Actually the sound techs fucked up a lot of bands' sound at the festival, so I wouldn't be surprised if that had been the case with TDB as well.
