FOAD is absolutely amazing! One of my favorite Darkthrone albums

I agree whan I was younger I use to like early albums usualy I dislike new albums of band, but in this case i start love it after firts time

I cant' really get into FOAD or The Cult Is Alive not really a fan of the punk influences in those 2 cd's

punk and thrash metal were before black metal, these genres actually evolved into black metal.

I agree about it also death metal, moust BM bands start palying Dm in demo era I talk about werry firts BM bands

There was a lot of band slike Discharge, MF, Kinf Diamon, US death metal and so on BM

"The Cult is Alive" had a very obvious punk influence... "FOAD" not so much. That one was influenced by classic metal, not punk. Fenriz said as much.

Hate Them had just as much, if not more of a punk influence than The Cult is Alive, and that's why Hate Them is my second favorite Darkthrone album, with the almighty Sardonic Wrath easily being number one.

I just prefer their old stuff not their new. Newer stuff is just harder to get into.

" A Blaze In The Northern Sky " is my fav. Darkthrone album. After "Panzerfaust" they released quite a few mediocre albums. I would definitely prefer " The Cult Is Alive " or " FOAD " to albums like "Goatlord" , " Total Death " and " Plaguewielder".

I disagree. While "Hate Them" and "Sardonic Wrath" had an obvious punk influence (Darkthrone pretty much always have, fwiw), it's nowhere near as blatant and obvious as it is in "The Cult is Alive."

I like Darkthrone a lot but only for two albums: Soulside Journey and Hate Them.... Only these two albums do it for me.. The rest of their stuff is average in my opinion. Those two albums have made me get into them heaps though

Hate Them is also one of my favorites. Have you heard Sardonic Wrath? It's very similar to Hate Them, but I think it's even better. The last song is doom to the max.

Nah I havent heard that album but if you say its like Hate Them then I'll be sure to give it a listen.... Its too bad they never continued the Soulside Journey Death Metal style in any of their later albums. That album is fucking excellent.. I'll be sure to hear Sardonic Wrath now that you've mentioned it. Cheers

they are realy show darkness in my mind , my fav song is : The Claws Of Time

I fucking loveeeee this band to no end. All albums were excellent, especially Under a Funeral Moon and SSJ

Darkthrone, what can one say about a band that has made such an influence?! They are really loose now and they show it through the music. Lyrics like "Satanism is lost on you" and "MODERN METAL, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!" and the new music itself.

Then again, they don't have to prove themselves to anyone. Too many critics, not enough musicians to uphold Fenriz's standards.

Anyways, my favorite albums are "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" and "Panzerfaust". There is no denying that "Transilvanian Hunger" and "Under..." are great and influential albums though.

I'm not TOO big a fan of the new shit, but I'll listen to it.

I don't like "Transilvanian Hunger" either, the drums are so silent and the songs are too repetitive. But lately I've been liking "A Blaze In The Northern Sky"

Mercyful Fate really only contibuted to the lyrical and stage presence aspect of black metal. Musically it evolved out of the thrash/punk-esque albums of Bathory and Venom and to a lesser extent Celtic Frost.

TH is fucking overrated... Not bad.. but still very overrated.
