Mine is the one of Fatal Tragedy (Dream Theater). It may not be Petrucci's best, but I love it because it begins quite powerful, then he plays some sort of different "extracts", and finally that amazing progression until the end of the song.

Michael Denner's solo in King Diamond's "Black Horsemen" is one of the all time great metal solos IMO. xD

The 2nd solo in Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". For me, that solo takes you to another place, like no other solo can. My only gripe, is that because it's at the end of the song, it fades out with the song. Which is shite for such an amazing piece of music.

Written by Sonic MrSumo on 17.01.2011 at 06:38 Songs that fade out are one of my pet hates. lol There's a minority of ocassions were it sounds right, but most of the time, it feels lazy, and the song doesn't feel like its properly concluded if it fades out.

Greg Fulton's solo at the end of "I Hate Therefore I Am" by Cyclone Temple is one of my fave ever solos. Underrated band and album.
