I’m in the process of making the third Morbid Romance album. A six-month music hiatus was the plan, but I’m hopelessly addicted to creating. Here’s a solo from a comedic relief-type song. My initial plan was to release Imperial Travesty Part I as the first album of a new project (Palaganesia), but I reconsidered, for many reasons.

Another cover of one of my favorite songs. IAMX rules so fucking much.

I really loved that one. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical when I read IAMX because I feared you might try to imitate the pretty unique and fragile vocals of Chris Corner, which (no offense) would probably have been a tough challenge. However, your deep, rich voice and especially the growls give this song a completely different feel. Honestly, I think your version may even be a notch better (=more to my liking) than the already brilliant original.

BTW, your cat looks just like mine, from the fur pattern down to the whiskers. They could be twins.

Thank you so much! Your assessment is spot-on: I couldn’t have matched Chris Corner’s emotional and clear high notes. I’m still working on improving my clean voice. But honestly, your liking my cover as much as or even more than the original is like a Christmas gift.

Also, Sofia Alia says hi to your cat

I attempted to make a supremely commercial song, to see if I could. Vocal's drowning in auto tune, pitch formatting and tons of effects.

good stuff, Metren. first track has cool guitar work.
why a new band and not Dreadrealm though? is it going to sound very different?

Thanks for giving my new songs a listen! The reason Askele is... Askele and not Dreadrealm, is two-fold. First, given the second album’s inclusion of vocals on all but one track, I don't want Dreadrealm to become solely instrumental. The second issue is that the songs are too mellow and upbeat for Dreadrealm. From a hypothetical Dreadrealm fan’s perspective, the “selling out” quip might not be entirely without merit. Producing atmospheric black(ish) metal of this type is generally quite easy. While I absolutely put effort into writing and producing the music for Askele and I don’t intend to release anything that doesn't live up to my own standard of quality, the fact is it took me 8 hours to create “Starchaser”, from when I began writing it on guitar to the final render/mastering. Because of this, it would be unsuitable to release this material as Dreadrealm, I think.

There's a secret third reason too. I am a bit of a weirdo and I never quite know what I am doing.

8 hours is really impressive, seems you cracked the code of atmospheric bm fair enough about the distinction, it's actually a good approach (keep the complex stuff for Dreadrealm!).
I look forward to the whole thing. I'm a sucker for instrumental riffy atmo bm, and you make stuff that is way better than other more popular bands anyway.

Third and final single from Before The Magic Is Lost. I have 28 minutes of music recorded and mixed, the full album should be out before summer.

This is the ultimate Morbid Romance song. In a way, it completes the project. I think I will move on to something new now. Time will tell.

Made another song today. I don't quite know where this one came from. It is something like a fantasy movie soundtrack having an affair with the news scene from Bruce Almighty.

Either this is one of the best things I have ever created or I am losing my mind. Or both. Zumm zumm.

The fuel for my thoughts continues to be the bizarre. This is a summery jam, or something like it. The “rap” includes mentions of things like Baldur’s Gate and Uchiha Itachi, but not much else of importance.

Nothing comedic about this song. It came out somehow completely sincere and I fell in love with the sound of it and decided against adding anything funny or fun to it.

It's 7 minutes to midnight here, so I narrowly escaped not making a song today. 10 songs in 10 days. Is it time for a break? I don't think so. Lydia remains in blissful Exile.
