I can't believe nobody has started a Megadeth thread yet. Not only are they a well-known thrash band, but there's always been so much controversy around them because of the Mustaine-haters.

Have fun discussing.

How cool would be them to tour with Slayer again.

It would be sweet, wont happen though. Kerry King says that Slayer has surpassed Megadeth...or something like that, which is code for, Kerry has his head too far up his own ass to realize how shitty his music has become.

Do you truly believe that statement? And would you say it to his face? Ha! Regardless, it would still be cool.

Yes I do believe it. And I would probably just tell him Christ Illusion was pretty lame and God Hates Us All was complete trash, then run.

lol With all due respect sir, but please drown in the mesarable pit of minority. Slayer rule every bit as much as Megadeth, perhaps even more and Christ Illusion is as metal as United Abominations.

Infact, I find it a crock of shit that people down on these bands simply because they don't sound like they did 20 years ago. Megadeth and Slayer have moved on guys, as has Heavy Metal in general. Accept it, or die

For me its not a matter of sounding the same after 20 years, or who is still 'Heavy Metal' and who isn't terrible music is terrible music, even if your not talking in relativity to early albums, Christ Illusion and God Hates Us All were still trach. UA kicks ass though.

That is your opinion

But I found Uinted Ambominationjust a tad better than Risk and lots and lots worse than Christ Illusion and God Hates Us All

Ah yes, the opinion card trumps all. I just dont like being told why I dont like an album (for example, the post above, being accused of not liking an album because the band changed there sound) them having a different sound has got nothing to do with why I really dislike those 2 albums.

UA just sounds fucking tired. The songs don't really go anywhere and some of the choruses sound like Dave gave up on the songwriting. It's quite disappointing considering how awesome Sleepwalker is.

It seems the forumal of "best song first" suckered most people into loving this album

Sleepwalker, Washington Is Next!, Gears of War, Á Tout Le Monde and United Abominations are great songs, the two first some of the best I've heard from this band. The rest from UA is pure shit though, some of the worst I've heard from Mustaine.

Their last show here in Stockholm was great, I had so much fun and they played a lot of classics!

I am still baffled to see many people claim that A Tout Le Monde is a great song. Okay the original version was decent but this new version is atrocious at best.

how come the song "Hangar 18" intro has a chord progression which is 100% the third clean riff from Metallica's Call of Cthulhu? did Dave participate in writing Call?

Yes, I've read that he helped write the song when he was still in Metallica. It was from the 'When Hell Freezes Over' demo, I read.

Well, it would seem that the only complaints towards UN are motsly "Whaa Whaa piss piss this song sucks, moan whine piss poor guitars, cry wank whine bad songwriting" and the ultimately useless "Thats your opinion" trump card.

So without any real complaints or any legitimate argument whatsoever, I hereby declare United Abominations the best album Megadeth have released in over 20 years and a deserving milestone in there catalog along with Peace Sells, Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction. This albums rules and all you pitiful nay-sayers can eat my cornhole. HA! HA HA HA! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Thanks for the compliment...I geuss. But you have to understand my frame of mind at the moment. I saw Megadeth live a month ago and I've just come off of two weeks worth of Peace Cells, Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction and United Abominations is still brilliant by comparison. Oh yes, I am very much convinced of my above post.

I know what you mean, I got to see them live right before they released UA, as good as UA is, hearing 'Washington Is Next!' live completely destroys the recording, maybe thats why people like us enjoy it alot more, after hearing some of the songs live you can appreciate them more on record. Just a theory maybe.

I can guarantee you that that theory can be flushed down the toilet, cause people like Collin & me also saw Megadeth perform those songs live and still think United Abominations is an abomination of an album (okay not as bad as Risk, but quite close because of the bore me to tears factor)

I liked UA. Its not as good as Peace Sells or Rust in Peace, but I think it deserves more credit than some people have given it. Its better than Risk and World Needs A Hero. Its good to see Megadeth making somewhat of a return to roots... They got their balls back, more than we can say about Metallica.

I own United Abominations, and while it probably won't go ddown as a classic Megadeth album, I do think some of the songs on there are pretty badass. Especially Sleepwalker, Washington is Next!, and Never Walk Alone...A Call to Arms. Other than that (besides Gears of War, and Blessed Are the Dead) the album sucks. But 5 outta 8 isn't bad.....but it'snot that great either.......damn, I just realized I pretty much said what everyone else has said.

What about So Far So Good So What? I think that it's Megadeth's most ounderrated album.

Yeah the production does suck, but then again so Killing is My Buisness. SFSGSW has some great songs on i like Liar, Into the Lungs of Hell, and Set the World Afire. I really don't like Mary Jane, but that's the only song I don't like on there.

Funny you guys brought up SFSGSW, since I have listened to that album about 100 times over the last few weeks, and I'm quite convinced that it's an underrated masterpiece. Easily as good as Peace Sells and Rust in Piece, Hook In Mouth IMO is one of the most meaningful songs Dave has ever written, and In My Darkest Hour is perhaps the most emotional.

I suggest buying the 2004 re-release of SFSGSW for those of you who hated the production of the original recording.
