There maybe a few decent bands going to this festival, but you still wouldn't see me dead there. Lostprophets on the main stage headlining? What the hell?

well I have never been to a Download festival before, and it is that kind of anti-Download attitude I will be able to either support or oppose after having been given the opportunity to cover this event and have the experience myself
yeh, I don't like Lostprophets any more than you by the sounds of things, but there are some really great bands there - and there is more to a festival than strictly just bands anyway isn't there?

one thing is for sure, and that is you will get an honest review of the festival from me

Well alright I'll give you that. I go to Bloodstock every year and I do go 60/40 for the line up, but I also go to hang around with friends, get drunk and have a laugh. Maybe it's not all about the bands going there, but I think my opinion on going to festivals is somewhat different from a lot of other peoples. I'm quite biased in that way.

130 quid (195 euro) for this crappy line-up? Wow, the English have gone berzerk once again it seems.

Ah c'mon, it's not a crappy line-up. Just because it is't all "trve kvlt met0l" doesn't mean it's crappy. Plus names like Kiss, Judas Priest and also bands like Bullet For My Valentine aren't cheap to book you know!
And did it maybe ever occur to you that the Download Festival isn't a metal-only festival like graspop or Wacken? The festival wants to be a alternative rock/metal fest, and in that way it's an awesome festival because they have exactly the right line-up for the kind of people they want to attract.
That's said.

Even if one finds the line-up to be good. It still IS too damn expensive. There is NO festival on mainland Europe where you pay 195 euro for three days. Even when looking at not entirely metal festivals.
Lowlands is around 130, Sziget is of course even cheaper etc. etc.
My biggest problem with a festival such as Download is the pricetage attached to it. I know bands such as Kiss, Judas Priest, Bullet For My Valentine (btw how the hell is it possible that this band is expensive?) aren't cheap to book, but Graspop has all three plus bigger names than anything else on this Download line-up and is cheaper.

Not only is the ticket overpriced, look at what they dare CHARGE for the camping... 30 euro, parking 15 euro. Nowhere in Europe do they charge these sorts of prices at festivals. I wonder how much the booze and food will cost.
