Has anyone here heard these guys? They're from Kalmar, Sweden, and play a brand of brutal technical death metal. They're first full length, 'Cabinet,' was released in 2002 on Unique Leader Records, and they're second, 'Noctambulant,' was released this year on Neurotic Records. They've played with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, Kataklysm, and Vile just to name a few. I find that they're able to execute extremely technical music while keeping it interesting and fresh, and have found them to be one of the best modern death metal bands to come out of Europe.

I'm like the only person that doesn't think SOP is that great. I honestly find them boring after a few listens.

...huhh??? how can u find them boring???

All i know is that i wouldn't want to be SK921, finding Spawn of Possession boring is a very disturbing thing lol. No hard feelings man, i respect your taste. The challenge for Spawn is to top Noctambulant, that will be something to wait for.

I'm sorry. When I listen to both of the albums I just wasn't impressed. Cabinet was the better one though. =/ I honestly don't why it matters that I don't like them though.

I know that there is talent in the band. There is a lot of talent, its just not my thing. Same with Necrophagist, they bore me. To me a great tech death band is Gorguts, Gorod, Quo Vadis, Anata, etc. I like their sound more then Spawn of Possesion.

I quite enjoy Spawn of Possession, awesome guitarists and drummer, but they have a fairly standard vocalist imo. Definitely one of the better tech-death bands out there fore sure

Actually none of the bands mentioned are playing the same music. In fact, that's what's so good about tech. dm, most of the bands out there seem capable of finding their own sound and it usually turns out as original music. It's easy to understand that SK can like Gorod or Anata for example and not like Necrophagist or Spawn because in the end, all four of those bands are different.

All you Spawn fans, who's a fan of The Scepter of the Ancients album by Psycroptic ?
Because Chalky is the MAN behind the mic for the new SoP album, that's right !

oh did i forget to mention that Christian Muenzner (Obscura, ex-Necrophagist) will be pulling off the lead guitars for Spawn as well.

Uuuuugh I was excited with the first part of your post but I'm not so sure how I feel about Christian being in the band. I hope there's some sort of rhythm guitar playing lol. But fuck... bands that usually start out as tech death seem to generally increase the technicality of their music, therefore slowing down and getting worse, for me at least.

Erlend + Christian might mean Cosmogenesis part 2, which would be good but a step down from other SoP albums for me.

Yeah man i know what you're saying, I'm not hoping for Spawn to release a technical "prodigy". We all know that Christian is a good songwriter, hopefully he can adapt to their sound. I would actually like something similar to 'Cabinet', of course different in its own rights. I want this band to keep their raw edge. I can really see Chalky blending in well with Spawn, it's going to be interesting.

I gave Noctambulant a few listens recently and was overcome by how much better it was than I remembered it to be. It's actually got some real quality and ranks highly up there with some Psycroptic material (the kings of the genre). Still not that crazy about Cabinet though.

Their bassist, Erlend, has posted four or so videos of him playing SoP songs, but with more audible bass, and they sound much better. Here's Dead and Grotesque:

Also, for those who haven't heard, Chalky isn't in the band anymore because Dennis Röndum has rejoined.
