Of course most people know Soulfly's front man Max Cavalera came from his former project Sepultura. Soulfly's self-titled debut really shows that it is Max Cavalera's band, as he projects all of his new found anger and he also really explores tribal music from his native Brazil as was started in Sepultura's later albums "Chaos A.D." and "Roots".

A lot of people say it's THE Soulfly and yes it's better than Roots, but i prefer Prophecy, Dark Ages and Conquer

It's one of my least favorite Soulfly albums.. I don't say it's bad, but comparing to Prophecy, Dark Ages, Conquer and Primitive, it's in a lower place in my list of favorite albums of Soulfly.. Though I really liked Eye For an Eye in the album..

"Soulfly" (the eponym, eponymous music) is my favorite music from that album.

"Motherfucker you don't understand all my hate
Motherfucker you don't understand all my rage
Motherfucker you don't understand all my pain
Motherfucker you don't understand"
Wow, true lyrical genius there, pal. That'll get the Monster snap-back wearing white trash to start headbanging.
The Butt Rock of Metal.

Masterpiece album along with "Primitive". It's Soulfly's best era album.

IMHO quite boring and nothing compared to late Max Sepultura (and of course no match to the old Sepultura stuff).

There are much better Soulfly albums.
