When it comes to do the review of any grindcore bands each time I'm a bit disturbed to do it? Only because it can be something excellent but also, even the true grindcore fans can confess it, it can be a really pile of shit without any interest. However, Pig Destroyer is not a newcomer, and we all know that the American combo is certainly one of the best band ever in the style [I think that they proved it to us with their precedent album "Prowler In The Yard"], understand that I was expecting something good with this new one?. Then, how is it? How is this new album "Terrifyer", you want to know it huu Well my answer is really simple, that's just a real killer?
Damn what a blast!!! It was more than unexpected for me to find one day a Grind release of such quality? Well at least with this new album of the Americans Pig Destroyer, I know that all is possible, and I'm sure that we can have great albums in all the Metal styles...
The great thing, in my opinion, with this band is the fact that their music even if it's really violent is not "free". There is more than an effort of compositions on each song, and the variety of the musical styles from Thrash to Death, from Hardcore to Grind is excellent.
Even if it's really aggressive and violent, it's not a problem at all for our ears, I mean that even people who never listen to this kind of music, will like this album. The voice of the singer for example is nearer of Hardcore than Death in fact, and the two other talented musicians of the band are more than impressive. The guitars sound really good, the solos are more than effectives, and when it comes to the drums, well it's hard to find something wrong.
"Terrifyer" is not only a simple album, that's also a real demonstration of technical music, incredible?
The production of the album is one of the other great points of this CD, the sound is pure like water but in fact my only regret with this album come from the tracks. Let me explain all that to you. In fact, even if you have 21 "real" songs, all that is divided in 99 tracks. If your CD reader is ok with that, no problems, but if you have a sucky player, which put a little break between all the tracks, damn it's horrible and it's impossible to listen to this album, that's really sad? Another bad point, the length of the CD, only 32 mins, please guys we really want more the next time?
But anyway the new Pig Destroyer is a killer album, something that every Metal Heads must love. Or at least everybody will have to admit that some really aggressive bands can do something more than interesting. I like this album, even if Grind Core is not my favourite music, but honestly this one is a real kick in your ass? Something strong, something excellent? I can only recommend this album to all the fan of great Metal?
