Good list. You should probably check "Assaulter - Boundless" a great Thrash\Black metal album from Australia.

Yeah I checked out their latest recently, although I generally avoid most Black metal that one was excellent.
@Marcel: Just metal albums this list, otherwise you would definitely see AC/DC here. Don't care much for Rose Tattoo, but Disembowelment is great too (nearly made the list)

Looks like I've got some listening to do. Haven't heard any of those, although The Slow Death has members of Murkrat in the band if I remember rightly.

I think Mandy iis both in The Slow Death and Murkrat. and The Slow Death's Suart Prickett is also in Stone Wings and Stone Wings did a split 10" with Mournful Congregation.

Wow I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned The Berzerker or Universum at all. Also look up Chaos Divine and Devolved (the band started out in Australia but the drummer moved to California, he was actually Dino's first choice for Divine Heresy before Tim Yeung, and is now comprised of all Americans except him but technically the band did originate in Australia).

I third that. No "Trancendance Into The Peripheral"? WHAT?
Also, while I'm pretty happy to see Austral Alien in first position, Spiritech is only 23rd? After Lunasphere and Tripsis?

Sweet, I've only heard of a handful of these. I'll check some out, especially Long Voyage Back because anything described as "folk/doom" has my attention.
I saw Virgin Black live about 4 years ago in a really empty, dead club in Seattle. They did a pretty good job considering there were like 10 people watching the show. Hard to get a good reading on them, though, but they were very nice when I spoke to them afterwards.
Check out Rituals of the Oak! My new favourite Aussie band Sweet, sweet doom.

Long Voyage Back is well worth a listen I think, this track is a favourite:
Haven't heard Rituals of the Oak, I'll give them a go, thanks!
Also might have to expand this list, it seems I've left out a certain band

I don't believe I forced you to view the list, and I'd love to help out there but I've never really been one for premonitions, sorry mate.

Ah I see what you mean now, it is a bit counter-intuitive I can't list albums I HAVEN'T heard of course. Well I could but that would be pointless. Guess my wits weren't about me, though in my defense it was the early hours of the morning when I saw your comment.
