Water drips down from unseen stalactites as a voice from the underworld growls:

"On countless worlds, the earth shakes
as the forces of chaos strive to gain control.
Whilst they unleash their devastating weaponry
upon their foes, there is no time for peace
Only eternal war..."

A great BT album, and certainly one that showed the band were retaining their gritty edge on the perfectly honed DM sound that would soon follow on latter albums. 'Through the eye of terror' has a nice, gradual build-up into an explosive sound and 'Drowned in Torment' is fast yet keeps a relatively fast pace too.

This is Bolt Thrower's best in my opinion, despite being a little sloppy. 'All That Remains' and 'World Eater' will crush your bones.

By far their best. Even tho I still love it I have to recognize their death metal got softer after Realms Of Chaos. Here they sound like a tank crushing everything in its path.

Interesting you should say, "by far their best" as BT were always remarkably consistent. For uncompromising heaviness though, IVth Crusade is their high water mark for me. They slowed it down a touch in places but for me that doesn't mean it got softer. Far from it. That one really does sound like a tank smashing everyone and everything in it's path.

Love this band.

Good album. Doesn't reach the heights of their later releases, but still better than a lot of other death metal!
My favorite tracks are World Eater, Eternal War, and Realm of Chaos.
Is it just me or is there some Slayer influence on this album? Some of the solos sound like something from King - and the riff on Prophet of Hatred sounds very much like Slayer to me.

Classic old school death metal action riffs in should 2 minutes songs and such length fits in grind core more, but not bad.

Feels great to listen, once again, Bolt Thrower's greatest album after so long.

I bought it when it came out because of the Warhammer cover. I stayed for the classic sludge and especially wooooooooooorld eeeeeeeeeeeateeeer.

It’s a solid 9, and plus 1 point for nostalgia.
