Gwydion - Going On Indefinite Hiatus
It's a sad day for Gwydion fans. The Portuguese folk metallers have decided to "take an indefinite leave of absence." Their last album Veteran, which was nominated for Best Folk / Pagan / Viking Metal Album on Metal Storm Awards 2013, could well be their swansong. The band started back in 1995 and released three albums in total. They could disband in the future but for now, it's just a break.
The band explained their decision: "Today we've decided that Gwydion and its Beerzerker Army will rest their arms. For now we will take an indefinite leave of absence, This journey has been a great adventure, 20 years full of emotions, glorious battles, good and bad times, and we survived until now, but unfortunately our lives have taken different directions, personally and professionally. With all the constraints that we have suffered, as this crisis in our country, which all of us are suffering this major impact and inevitable consequences, as unemployment and mass emigration, the band has suffered these examples internally. We feel that it's time to take a break, regroup our Beerzerker Hordes, to reach Yggdrasil tree of knowledge and refill our energies, If another album will ever see the light, it will be with the full strength of the Gods, Riding on our side!
"We feel we've done some great albums, full of passion and full of heart, we have no regrets, just proud moments... This is not a goodbye but a see you soon. We will still post stuff here from time to time, our merch will continue available on our official site. Hope you enjoyed this glorious ride, we thank you for all the great moments and thrills you have brought us! See you in Valhalla!

Such a shame... I hope they come back someday. It's tough for bands to survive, especially in Portugal.
