If they had put lyrics to this album would not have worked

Good experience, and is not Djent!!

Blackened and insane ... as it should be

Good Doom metal, Yes.

Loads of interesting stuff to check out, but I just can't get into the new Cynic. It just sounds so... awful. My instant reaction is a feeling of unpleasantness when I listen to it, I guess I'll never get over the Focus-sound.

I had a very similar first impression. The album does grow a little bit over time, but it has definitely strayed too far in a direction I never wanted the band to go. Although I can't really it say was surprising given Carbon-Based Anatomy, haha.
