Maybe I'm just outdated, but is this Metal? I'm not hearing it whatsoever.

I agree. We will see how the rest of the album compares.

Eh, I like it. I've got a feeling this new album's not going to stack up to Devil Is Fine, which took a new sound and kinda nailed it.

This isn't, but the previous album was - try In Ashes or Children's Summon from there if you've never listed to Z&A before. The whole concept (at least of the last album, and I assume again this time) of mixing (somewhat) extreme metal with spirituals is interesting but not necessarily for everyone

I liked it alot. Not quite as much as i did most of Devil Is Fine. The production is excellent. So is the execution. It just doesent feel as fresh and unique so far.

Hard to judge from one song as the previous albums still had some tracks like this with less metal influence. I do hope the album has more songs more towards the metal side for songs like this to provide a good counterpoint to.

Pretty good. But not something I would care to look up on a Metal site. I'm thinking he is seeing the $. Which is fine as he is talented. Maybe a name change would be in order or he starts a side black metal project. This has very little to do with his first EP.

None of their records has made me intrigued ever to revisit them. One sitting was more than enough. May be it could be me who didn't able to connect with Z & A 'cause it sounds anemic.

The song's decent but it lacks the punch of the more metal songs from the previous albums, however not all's lost, here's a live session of another song from the new album that still has the BM + spirituals combination that I came to love:

The first couple of albums had this "wow" effect and songs like "A Spiritual" and "Come On Down" were addicting af but I think it's difficult to continue being interesting if they just follow the gospel/bm formula (btw there is no metal in this song at all as many others said). This particular song is completely average.

Thanks for the tip, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Sounds like something I'd expect to hear on a crappy Call of Duty trailer or something.. Not digging it. Also not metal.

Maybe not metal, but good music. So far at least, hard to judge by a single.
