After 3 listens, very strong release (again). Tracks 2 & 3 are particularly awesome, excellent use of keyboards, vocals and ambiance. Certain passages throughout the album remind me of the debut (with improved prod of course haha).
It appears this was sort of a "trance/ritual" trilogy along Apparitions and ESM, and it actually fits very well. Overall, all three have a similar vibe, production and feeling. Wonder if this means something different for the next release!

Mostly ok stuff, not as good or interesting as Empty Space Meditation. "Trail Of The Conscience Of The Dead" is fucking amazing though.
I hope they move onto a bit more different stuff now, but I doubt it.

Quite unique sound as always and thats great but they should drop the mindfullness/meditation stuff. More black metal, hate and aggression would make their sound a bit more dynamic imo.

That's not really the type of black metal Urfaust seem to go at though, at least not to me. They're less of the "fuck mankind, destroy them all" type and more of the "I'm going to lock myself in the dungeon away from humanity and make a deal with the devil" type. I think it's still hateful honestly, just in a more moody, self reflective way.

The ideology isnt so important, I was refering more to the music. Their overall sound is as I said unique but imo they should add something to the pacing to create some dynamics, as it is now it isnt challening enough. This is clearly a band with lots of potential that could have released a mastepiece on their way. Ironically they are a band thats full of surpises that nowadays makes very unsurprising albums.

Oh yes, strongest cut here for sure. I love this sort of doomish sound they've been embracing lately

Honestly I don't think they could. Slow and/or monotone riffs is what Urfaust does best to push the vocals. The sort of floaty stuff I remember Empty Space Meditation as is something they could do more, but aggression doesn't seem possible without a complete change of sound, character and ideas.

Agreed, I get bored sometimes with this release, it just needs to either trim the fat or add something a little more interesting than "AHHHHHH" vocals underwater. The 4th track is awesome though.

"Trail Of The Conscience Of The Dead" had the same impact on me last year as Schammasch's "Above The Stars Of God" did in 2016.

Gem of an album. "Doctrine of Spirit Obsession" and "Trail of the Conscience of the Dead" in my opinion are definitely the strongest tracks. Being an Indian I could totally tell that the last song, "Eradication through Hypnotic Suggestions" definitely had Indian Raga influences. The name of the songs are also pretty cool.

"Trail Of The Conscience Of The Dead" is indeed one hell of a track, probably among their very best. But I feel like the rest of the album just passed me by. If I go back to them and try to focus I think they are fine but not particularly memorable perhaps. Still, though, a great sound. But I think they missed the mark on the more ambient sections. It's not as engaging. They would do better on the next one.

Completely agreed. To be honest, "Trail" is the only track from this album that I have revisited in the past two or three years. It's most likely my favourite Urfaust song. I can't name any of the other tracks on this album and I don't even remember what they sound like aside from 'sort of similar to "Trail" but not quite as good'.
Side note: I can't believe I never commented on this thread before, I was really enthusiastic about it at the time.

Got back to this album after 4 years and it still holds the test of time. Some of the best in their discography, truly an unique sound.
