I have it longer week and it's nice

The record's pretty solid overall, but the second half with the last two actual tracks in particular (The Wereworm's Feast and Dawn of Rats) being some of the best songs they've ever written. Like I said, the whole thing's good, but I wish the whole record was as experimental and amazing as the last couple of songs.

8.5/10 leaning towards an 8 for me.

About the same as Nightbringers, which was an improvement over the few albums before it.

Not even TBDM can rescue the genre. All tried and tested and repeated tunes.

One of the very few physical copies I could recently get my hands on and the only 2020 CD I regret buying.
Simply put, it's uninspired, bland and forgettable and their worst effort since Unhallowed.

This is not typical melodeth and I like it somehow. This is more angry and ominous than melodic and melancholic. That's a nice change. Also some of the riffs are really interesting.

Overall I would say this is an average album from this band. Removal of the Oaken Stake is a good one.

There are some interesting riffs in this album. Not enough that the band looses its identity but it sounds a bit different than their past album. "Dawn of Rats" and "Removal of the Oaken State" are phenomenal, and I really like "Sunless Empire" too.
