01. Back To Heaven
02. Auroras Fallen Star
Rain Novelty is a band from Greece, and this is their 2 song demo, that arrived to my hands a while ago, both songs are lengthy, clocking around 10 minutes the first, and 7 the other, both are melancholic pieces, and the feeling you get by listening these songs is sorrow and despair, but it could be just me?
The cover art is great, I always though that clowns were the saddest characters of the circus family, and they've chosen a pretty gloomy one for the cover!
First track "Back To Heaven" is a slow piece, with a haunting violin all through the song, the vocals are typical Gothic, very deep and melancholic. This song is a great one! Sadly, my interest in the band fades when "Auroras Fallen Star" arrives, this 7 minutes song is only voice & piano, there's nothing wrong with this, but in this case it becomes boring, and the vocals are too "weepy" for my taste, at the 4 minute mark the haunting violin comes to save the day, improving the song a little, but there's nothing left to do I'm already bored by the first four minutes?
So, 2 songs, one really good, the other not so good, too soon to make myself an opinion of this band, I'll just let time do the talking, and hopefully we'll hear more from these guys soon.
