Most of you people who haven't heard this band will probably think that this must be one of the weirdest names one could ever choose for their band. But if you have listened to this band, I think you would agree with me when I say the band (probably) couldn't have chosen any name that would fit and describe the music they play better than Ufomammut.
Psychedelic and bone crushingly heavy, Ufomammut is like a crossover between psychedelic sounds and stoner doom/rock. And what is the result of mixing elements of all these styles? Well, you get an ultra heavy sound, creating soundscapes that will probably remind you of alien movies or other space related documents. And that is what Ufomammut do, they make the music and they create all the soundscapes, and then it depends on your imagination where you will find yourself, in a spaceship or in a cage surrounded by barbarians.
Musically, the best band I can think of to compare Ufomammut with must be Electric Wizard. The main difference between the afore mentioned bands though, is that I would probably say Ufomammut is more psychedelic with strange sounds with an almost esoteric (not the band) form of atmosphere and can sometimes move more towards stoner rock, though their doomy riffs remain underneath the psychic sound of the band.
Fans of Stoner doom metal/rock, here is your band.
