"Border Of Misty Times" is actually the first album of the Russian Death Metal act Grenouer. I discovered them lately with their last EP "Try", an excellent and efficient mix of Death and Indus Metal. If the result of "Try" was in my opinion really interesting and encouraging, I must confess that I don't have the same feeling with "Border Of Misty Times". Sure this is probably a good album of Death Metal, but it's sooooo classic that I don't find a lot of interest in this album.

After those few words, I think that you understood me very well, "Border Of Misty Times" is a correct album of Death Metal, with all the ingredients of a classic Death Metal album? Understand that we have solos, strong riffs, Death vocals etc? but at the end that's not really catchy. Why? Well not because it's bad, but only because we can listen to such new releases everyday. It's not the case of at the opposite of the last EP "Try"?.

However, there are some interesting points on this album that probably give the future musical tendency of Grenouer. The ambiances and the melodic breaks are interesting and also, the numerous melodic aspects in the music are good. Actually, I only think that this album suffer of the lack of experience of the band, especially when you know their music now. It's just a first album after all, then I can understand this lack of originality in the compositions, and by the way, don't forget that the "new" music of Grenouer is at the opposite really original, strong and catchy.

Well, "Border Of Misty Times" is not a bad album of Death Metal, but it's something more than classic, especially in comparison with the last releases of the band. I miss this little touches of Indus that we can find in the last EP, then I suppose that you understand me, "Border Of Misty Times" is not bad, but this is the first album of the band and unfortunately not their best.
