Please write your opinions on the list, if you have any. I'm not doing this list because I consider myself as an expert more than other people here, but because I think it is interesting to discuss…
1. Black Sabbath - The first band considered as metal. All their influence could not be described.
2. Judas Priest - They brought in more melody to metal, added the twin guitar and created the traditional heavy metal sound.
3. Iron Maiden - Has had a huge influence on all kind of melodic metal and also on early thrash metal bands.
4. Motörhead - The first band to mix metal with punk. Had a major influence on the thrash genre.
5. Metallica - The first thrash metal band to record an album. Have influenced numerous bands in different genres.

This is a list with albums from the 2000's I like. I know that the term heavy metal perhaps always isn't really correct, I don't really care how albums are labeled. I have at least excluded…
1. Iron Maiden - Brave New World
2. Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death
3. Pagan Altar - The Lords Of Hypocrisy
4. Blaze Bayley - Silicon Messiah
5. Dark Forest (UK) - Dawn Of Infinity

I excluded some of my favourite albums that I don't accept as metal. While top 10 represents albums I listened to over the years, the rest of the list better represent where I stand today.
1. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
2. Dio - Holy Diver
3. Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part II
4. Iron Maiden - Brave New World
5. In Flames - Clayman

I know some of the albums are more thrash than death, but I added them anyway, because I guess they could appeal to death metal fans too. Many of the albums are not so well-known, but I prefer them over…
1. In Flames - Clayman
2. The Crown - Eternal Death
3. Sororicide - The Entity
4. Pestilence - Malleus Maleficarum
5. Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
