In Caustic's case it mattered because some of the songs were unremarkable fillers.

Length is not relevant to the quality of album, as if you say War and Peace is bullshit book because it's is too long. No the writer has a reason to write more chapters, the same as the musicians, they want to make a point, and if the the point needs some lengthy description then the whole piece will be longer.

It's relevant if the album you bring has mostly subpar moments. Caustic has that. Which is why the album isn't so great and it's inferior to Scorn.

Lmao watch the last track be 40 minutes long or something

I had no problem with the length of Caustic even as someone who doesn't care for albums over 40 minutes. As long as the album is good it don't matter.

I agree that Scorn > Caustic, but not because of the latter having filler but just being too long considering the type of music featured. Maybe I'm a weakling but for me Primitive Man are definitely best taken in small doses considering the overall intensity of their music. 30 - 40 minutes is ideal, 70 though of the pummeling, hellish black/sludge is just exhausting

Pretty boring tbh, not much variety, one dimensional songwriting with the casual noise, it's baffling that it's getting this much hype.... other than "Caustic", I dont see what's so interesting about these guys.

I'm going to need to give this more listens, but I do echo your sentiments. I was very excited for this album, but I feel like it suffers from taking the runtime of Scorn, but have the songs develop as if the album is going to have the run time of Caustic. I feel like they don't accomplish enough by the time the album is done. I'll give it more listens, but I was hoping for more on an initial listen.

Actually I'm really digging this.

Yeah, a sound which encapsulates hopelessness. Primitive man has this formula where they play a note for a very long time while doing very minimal drumming or base work in the background. It makes for a superb suffocating atmosphere. Check the beginning of entity to know what I mean.
