I only enjoyed the first half of the album, but the second half? Not so much. It would've been completely boring to me like "Beloved Antichrist" if there wasn't the first two tracks to save it. Seems like this album only borrowed the sounds from "Deggial" just for a callback, and that's it, nothing standouts or special, which is a shame.

I Agree, The first half had me really hyped

Of all the mediocre albums Therion have released, this is certainly one of them. It's not terrible, but the songwriting is just so incredibly lazy for the most part. Great vocal performances though, as per usual.

After a few spins, it grows. Just like the best Therion albums to date --- my second favorite, Gothic Kabbalah, I hated it the first time I heard it.

But the knowledge that they publicly admited to be a sell-out album still bugs me (tho the honesty should always be appreciated, and always better than the "omg we were so inspired, that's our best album ever" that bands usually put in the press at each release).

Ten Courts Of Diyu is the song that is getting me more excited. Tuonela is also fantastic.

I feel like a lot of the music on this album is way too similar to what they've done before. The metal elements are very uninspiring and the orchestral is good, but this band is capable of such much more. The guest vocalists really carry this record. I'm going to need to listen to this a few times more to properly assess it, but it's a 7.5 or so as of right now.

The more I've listen to this the more I like it, however they are capable of so much better. This is a pale imitation of their heyday. It is miles ahead of the last three albums they've done. It's catchy but kind of generic, so I guess that makes it a sell-out album?

That song is one of their best after death metal era, really, good voice Marko has, sad he left music.

That's a bit harsh. I can at least stomach a listen to this album, but I'd rather eat lead than listen to Within Temptation.

This is a difficult one for me. While I love tracks like Tuonela and Leviathan, most of Nocturnal Light and Great Marquis Of Hell, and many other scattered moments among the remaining ones, everything feels a bit disconnected. I still like the album and find it above average, but everything condensed in half the tracks might have worked better, skipping the auto-pilot Therion fillers.

That's not too bad, since we're still in January. A rating of 1, however, must have been granted to the worst thing you've heard in your entire life. Is it? Oh crap...

Jesus this is average as fuck

First album was theli,back in the days and after that i took a sweet box set with the 3first albums and the same day took also lepaca cliffoth.i lose interest for Therion because i got into black/death etc etc.Growing old i like to take more "risk" in music....haha.
i like a lot leviathan.So now i am going to chech full discographie...expect the first 4 albums.....can't listen them anymore.Weird....

It was a while ago I listened this band, to judge I need re listen, but if we dont count DM era, this stands tall. I like it ''Eye of wisdom'' is one of best band songs. It has heavy parts, operatic parts, symphonic 2 female vocals, male vocals, good balance here.

I was really looking forward to this one and releasing Leviathian as some sort of a teaser, really got me intrigued. The album is certainly way better than everything post-Gothic Kabbalah in my opinion, but what I really miss is that overall feeling, that makes the album grandiose. What Leviathan offers is some great sounding tunes, for me Nocturnal Light, Great Marquis of Hell and Eye of Algol stand out for example, but the album is just somehow without spirit.

I mean, it is obvious this album took a lot of effort and it was not easy to deliver something new, while revoke some of the past sound we all fell for and momentarily it is so obvious the album flirts with Lemuria/Sirius B era, even Deggial/Vovin, but these are just little bits and pieces. I'm missing "the glue" that would hold those bit together.

The vocal work is great though, the choirs are bombastic, the production is overall satisfactory, but we all know Therion is (was?) capable of delivering so much more.

Mediocre imo.. i'd rather spin Secret of the runes for the 2344th time

Okay, i know that i've said this earlier, but this album somehow managed to grow for me. It's probably because on the online streaming platforms, the audio is so low and it makes their songs sound so weak.But when i listened to the CD version, i changed my mind and could be able to like it more than before.

Listening now. 5 forgettable songs done. 6 to go.

I must say 2021 so far has been a pretty average year for metal (or maybe metal of my taste) Soen and Tribulation came out with good-ish albums. disappointed otherwise by Therion, Lake of Tears, Sirenia, Accept and Steven Wilson.

now all hopes tied with Epica, Empyrium and Moonspell.

I'm new to listening to this band so I need to go through their back catalogue but I like this album so far, I was disappointed with the new Epica album so this band makes a refreshing change for me

I actually liked Beloved Antichrist, it's nowhere near the quality of their best albums of course, but Christofer did there what he wanted to do for years not compromising a single thing. It's not to everybody's taste but it turned out ok imo. Didn't knew what to make of announcement of the new album "deliberately packed with hit songs", but resault is disappointment. Lazy uninspired songwriting. And no, it's not "the only thing that was left of all the different angles to explore". Vovin and Lemuria/Sirius B were albums actually consisting of hit songs. At this point I would much prefer they try another weird concept album or something.

While Therion is not coming close to what they did in the 90s or 2000s, they are still better than that WT crap...

Dayum man, u boring.

Obviously had it's epic moments here and there but I found nothing special about it, and I actually found it quite uninspiring for this band tbh. "Nocturnal Light", "Tuonela", and "Eye of Algol" stood out for me the rest was no more than generic imho.
