Fen have had a fairly explorative musical journey thus far, one that I’ve resonated strongly with very specific sections of. I don’t know whether my enthusiasm towards Carrion Skies above all their other records is representative of the wider Fen fanbase, but those that share my view may be encouraged to hear that I feel this is the band’s strongest album since Carrion Skies.

This has some really good parts that I liked but overall it didn’t work for me. Maybe with a few more listens

It's a very impressive release overall with some great moments here and there, and some fantastic melodies, but I feel like some of the track lengths could have been reduced a wee bit, by the end it just seems like they overkilled things slightly. I'm hearing glimpses of post-rock/metal, but the vast majority of this seems to be more along the lines of atmospheric black with hints of meloblack.
