It's not as bad as I was expecting, it's at least got a pretty solid groovy rhythm, and is lightly headbangable, but nothing that hasn't been already done before. I feel it's a case of releasing an EP for the sake of sticking to their discography routine of releasing an EP between full-length albums. This is a typical case of quantity of releases over quality for me.
