It's not like he insults people that likes what he doesn't like. At least I don't remember seeing it. Plus Ronnie Radke is suing him. Seems like Ronnie got a good bit of fans on his side as well as people that hate Fantano
we often have differences in opinion, but I've always found his reviews to be intelligent, articulate, and well-supported, so I respect him as a professional and I find his opinions worth listening to even if I don't share them.
I wasn't aware that too many of them did, although I suppose that makes sense. People are often quick to disagree vehemently with someone who doesn't like a thing they like. I've watched Fantano only casually over the years and
01. To Flow Through Ashen Hearts 02. The Dawn Is Hollow 03. Further Opening The Wounds 04. Transfiguration In And Out Of Worlds 05. To See Death Just Once 06. Undying As An Apparition 07. Cutting The Throat Of God
I’ve been pretty mixed about this band for a while. They’re definitely A Game as far as death metal’s concerned, that’s fairly easy to tell. Within their own discography, they’ve always struck me as a little samey though, and personally I couldn’t tell you what’s really all that different from one album to the next with them
I totally get the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” principle, but I’m still hoping this brings something a little bit new to the table, by Ulcerate standards

By this comment I’m pretty sure you did not listen to ”Stare Into Death And Be Still” Which was Very different from what They did on the albums before it. Added much more dynamics. More atmospheric in general. As Nik said: it was their ”Eye Of Every Storm” (in reference to the Neurosis album). Give it a listen as Im sure you Will notice a difference.

I second this. I used to have a similar problem with this band than Auntie Sahar, I could never get into them at first and never quite got the hype of Stare Into Death And Be Still at first either, but I persevered with it and it grew on me after each listen. After developing a taste to SIDABS I went back through their discography and started to appreciate their previous releases more.
Now I'm hyped up for this latest, it can't come soon enough. It's funny how I never thought much to this band now they're amongst my favorite bands in death metal.

Nah I definitely listened to it when it dropped, and it probably was the best death metal album of that year (or Top 3 at the very least). I do recall some of that shift in songwriting you’re talking about, but it wasn’t really enough to make me go “WOW, this is is so different from what they’ve done before!”
Admittedly, however, Ulcerate aren’t really a band I revisit that often, so perhaps it’d behoove me to give a decent run through of their discog before this new one drops

For what is worth I do agree with you when it comes to the run of three albums from 2011 to 2016 to be too much of a good thing.

Yep, this one probably gonna roll through to cuck everything in another few weeks.... whether it deserves to or not (lol)

Huge European tour announced and London ticket bought.
The single is equal to everything on Stare Into Death so I'm super excited for this album.
Yeah nabbed my ticket to the London show as well; I have no idea how frequently they make it over to Europe so I'm not missing a chance while they'll still presumably be playing a fair amount from the last album (and hopefully also touring a similarly good record)

We should say, "Hi" and grab a beer. It's always good to meet a fellow forum user.
I have Fulci in New Cross the night before that gig as well. It'll be a busy week!

I saw them when they played with Mgła in November 2022 here in Umeå. I can only describe them as crushingly intense, which is really impressive since they're just three guys. You're in for a treat.
I saw them in November in Vancouver, Canada and they were absolutely spectacular. The first song of the set, sound was off slightly then the sound guy figured it out and the wall was unleashed. Spectacular show.
They were announced at Debemur Morti’s Servants of Chaos festival in October so I’m going to make my way to Germany for that one. They’re playing the new album in full and other select songs. Some other really nice acts in the lineup.
Then I have a work trip to Barcelona a couple of weeks later and hopefully catch them for that date as well.
If anyone is going to be at Servants of Chaos or the Barcelona show shoot me a message. Happily grab a beer. I’ll be flying solo lol.
But back to this album… all 3 preview tracks sound incredible. I have no doubt it’ll be spectacular.
In general, very in line with their previous album, even though it is very similar to their previous album, this new one blew my mind with its brutal atmosphere in each song, as Ulcerate knows how to do, its brutality in its music, the speed of that battery is remarkable, good compositions
probably among the best of technical death metal
It seems very much like a continuation from their previous record, which was imo their best to date, and this is equally as satisfying so I'm certainly not complaining.
^i have a similar issue. it sounds really good and on paper i should love everything they put out, but somehow it's one of those bands that never completely clicked.
