Some line-up changes in the new Bloodbath album, Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) handed over the vocal duties to Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy), Dan Swanö left the drums and picked up the guitars, and recorded the sophomore effort of this all-star Death Metal band, entitled Nightmares Made Flesh.

The thing that always intrigued me about this band was how come these talented and well-known musicians got to make typical Death Metal? I mean, If you put 4 geniuses in one room, you wont expect that they will come up with something as typical as Bloodbath right? But they did, first class Death Metal that's it, but sadly no innovations, no new stuff here, just Death Metal.

Maybe I should go back and re-read the lyrics, because I don't know that I ever understood the subject matter haha.

Someone desperately wants to be eaten alive and watch it. Well it's supposed to be morbid, but I have to always laugh at the idea and the poor guy

7/10 points because it's a good album and since I really like the song "Outnumbering The Day".
But to be very honest, I expected so much more from my personal heros Tägtgren, Swanö, Renkse and Nyström because back then, Hypocrisy, Edge Of Sanity and Katatonia belonged to my most favorite bands. I can't help it but for me, Bloodbath never succeeded to fullfill what those big names had promised.

A solid death metal album! Songwriting on this album are excellent. Sadly most people do not understand this it seems, ratings below 8 proves this fact!

The best 'pure' Death Metal album ever made IMO. Outstanding musicians writing outstanding music in the genre they all share a common inspiration. This album is currently #31 in my favourite albums of all time.

9.5/10 for me - tracks 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 & 9 are all standout songs. 'Bastard Son Of God' and 'Blood Vortex' are the weaker songs on this, but both still good.

I was just reading the Decibel Hall of Fame entry on this album, and according to Dan Swanö, the title comes from an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S01 Ep10 "Nightmares"). Probably the most unexpected place to get a death metal album title from.

I don't listen much death metal since it's usually too fast and well, brutal. There is so many bands that I can't even listen. Not saying this is brutal death metal, I know there is more extreme bands.

I have known this band because of the big names. At first listen the whole album felt a bit dull except the song ''Draped In Disease'' which I liked instantly. The first song ''Cancer Of The Soul'' got better with second listen. With a couple of more listens I began to see why this is rated high.

There still is some parts or songs that get a little exhausting. Also there is this weird ''whiny'' sound in the background of song ''Outnumbering The Day'' which is at the same time fascinating but also annoying. Can't decide if I like it or hate it.

This is still not really my thing but I added two songs to my mixed metal list. Not bad at all for death metal band. Probably prefer this over Cannibal Corpse which to me was the obvious comparison.
