Alas, the almighty swamp metal titans Kalmah grace us with their sixth full-length release, entitled 12 Gauge. (Before listening to this album I was immediately turned off by the name of the album.) Ever one to worry about band's changing directions for the worst (see: Cryptopsy's The Unspoken King), the hairs stood up slightly on my neck upon reading the title of an album named after everyone's least favorite gun to use in Counter-Strike - next to the Ingram MAC-10 at least. Needless to say, I was pleased to discover Kalmah continued with their efforts regarding melodic death metal, further establishing themselves as one of metal's most popular and talented outfits.

Not at all like some of their older stuff... more melodic, less swampy... especially "one of fail" i really like it though

I just don't know why this is the kalmah album with less raiting, I think that is one of their best albums of not the best, songs are not as slow as the ones in TBW and the keyboard solos are back, its speedy, songwriting is awesome. etc.

The true it is really very good, but... shame the sound it is a little "batiburrí", hodgepodge, hotchpotch, mess, jumble, etc, etc hahaha, it is the bad thing of this album in my opinion. Luckily you can syntonize it, but in this case "you will need great skill" to get a good sound haha. Well, almost all songs are very good, but some highlights: "Rust Never Sleeps", "One Of Fail", "Bullets Are Blind", "12 Gauge"...

Whole album is pretty uneven.....songs like Hook The Monster,12 Gauge and Sacramentum have are awesome imo. But rest of the album is much more weaker. Plus I don't like the production. Good album still.

The album is pretty much what one would expect from Kalmah. Not their best songs in overall IMO, but as I see "Better Not To Tell" is different, kinda unique Kalmah song with some great melodies.

This was the kind of relentless riffing Palo wished to recreate. But Palo lacked the power in grabbing our attention and this still being their latest greatest guitar solo compilation didn't' help either.

Well, to me, possibly in my musical ignorance, it seems like a great job.
Just because the production isn't the best doesn't mean the songs are bad.
I enjoy this album full of riffs, rage and energy from beginning to end.
