Sadly inconsistent overall. The first half was actually surprising, but the second with it's mid paced songs didnt do it for me, kind broke the flow. The 10 minute song nothing special either, a shame, with their first songs I thought they found some of the inspiration they had back then

Yet another mediocre, souless effort from Staropoli. This album particulary suffers of trying too hard to sound like the old albums, but the magic and soul that Turilli brought is clearly missing. Everything sounds generic, but with some decent moments. The lyrics are bad and the Christopher Lee segments seems out of place and like a cheap marketing stunt. A lot of recycled stuff from previous albums, too much stuff sounding too much like older stuff. Into The Legend is still the best Staropoli Of Fire album and it was not that great. Pretty meh and fogettable.

The funny thing is that songs like "Rain of Fury" would be considered all-time RoF greats if they had appeared on older albums. RoF fans are likely bound to complain no matter what the band churns out.
With that said, I've only heard the three singles so far, and wasn't terribly impressed. We'll see if the rest of the album can change my mind, but I doubt it.
EDIT - Not highly impressive, I'd give it a 6.5. This is slightly above average power metal. I find it hilarious that so many people hate it, though... isn't this the Dawn of Victory clone you've all been wanting for so long? Well, you got it, isn't it wonderful?

Loved it. Better than I was expecting. Won't be their best album but it has nice songs.

Listening to it right now. Unfortunately it's a sad attempt to revive the old glory. There are nice songs, but all too generic. When they've tried to do something different on DWoS, the fans were a bunch of fools. Despite this, it will please their die hard fans.
Edit: maybe it will grow on me over time, but the only highlights are: "Rain of Fury" and "March Against the Tyrant"

All the songs are pretty generic and forgettable, without great moments but some good sparse moments. And DWoS was mediocre, yeah they tried to do something different, but the album was still mediocre. Now they tried really really REALLY hard to get the old magic back, even going as far as literally recycling stuff from previous albums, but the quality of the composition is just not there. And this album is certainly not for fans but for newcomers.

I'm listening to it right now. So far so good - it sounds much more clear, focued and streamlined, while retaining that RoF tremolo "neo-clacissism". Meaning it sounds like RoF, but all songs don't blend into one tremolo picking cavalcade. Although I'm fairly certain that they ditched 99% of orchestra for electronics which sometimes sound cheap.

OK, it is not that awful. Better than Dark Wings Of Steel (not a big challenge), worse than Into The Legend. Of course that makes it one of the less interesting Rhapsody albums.

Well, this is the downside of using streaming apps - I don't see the booklet. But compare this to what Blind Guardian has in their orchestra songs. RoF orchestra frequently sounds "plastic" and I feel is used sparsely, with majority of sounds being keyboards. I feel they used more orchestra on earlier albums. I'm 99% sure their trumpets and such instruments are keyboards.

How is this a clone of Dawn of Victory? Dawn of victory was more of a mix of folkish and orchestral elements with a raw power metal, this is more gothic and dark, a bit like Power of the Dragonflame (even when at most points it sounds like a FCTE clone, which is not necessary a good thing).

The kind of down-tuned sound to the guitars just reminds me a lot of the earlier RoF albums. I don't find the new album to be dark, especially lyrically. It's a collection of generic sounding speed metal songs that have semi-memorable choruses. Again, reminds me a lot of Dawn of Victory. You're right about the lack of folk instrumentation, but that was never a centerpiece of early RoF, just a side dish.
