Biography

Aww, two couples in a rock band, isn't that sweet?? No, it's not. Don't let those two friendly front-women dressed in white fool you, this is Undersmile, the most downtrodden doom this side of the Atlantic. Formed in 2009 and hailing from Oxford, Taz and Olly Corona-Brown, along with Hel Sterne and Tom McKibbin have crafted some of the most sub-Earthly enchantment and endless despair imaginable across their 5 releases so far: A Sea of Dead Snakes EP (Blindsight Records, 2010), Undertaker split EP (w/Caretaker, Blindsight Records, 2011), Narwhal (Future Noise Recordings, 2012), Wood & Wire split EP with their acoustic alter ego Coma Wall (Shaman Recordings, 2013) and 2014's split EP with Bismuth (co-released by Tartarus Records, Graanrepubliek Records and At War With False Noise).

Both their live shows and their recordings have garnered critical praise for their intense and original take on the doom and sludge genres. They have played alongside such luminaries as Dylan Carlson (Earth), Weedeater, Zoroaster, 40 Watt Sun, and Dopethrone, and have played DesertFest, Supernormal Festival and Metal Hammer's Hammerfest, among others. They have been confirmed to play Roadburn Festival in April 2015 and are currently preparing to record their second album, due for release around the same time.
