Extreme Prog / Avantgarde Metal
Long gone are the Arcturus copycat days, now Vulture Industries just released their most personal album to date. Soaring, theatrical, twisted, deeply emotional, awesome.

Gorguts
Definitely my favorite of the decade+ long comeback album craze that has been happening lately.

Blackened Doom
The recent Finnish trend for the bizarre and psychedelic continues. All that's good in the worlds of black, doom, and mindfuck compiled into 35 minutes of gloomy chaos.
Listen over here.

Perfectly balanced
Most probably the best comeback album since 2004. Whichever Carcass album you used to like, you will find somehting for you here.

Psychedelic Sludge Metal
There's not much I can say about SubRosa that I haven't said before. They are undoubtedly the best at what they do in the female-membered doom circuit, and More Constant Than The Gods is the perfect follow up to their sophomore album. If you like moody, psychedelic sludge metal with eccentric female vocals and oddly dissonant violin then this is the album for you.

Black Metal
52 minutes of raw, chaotic Black Metal from Iceland that is as haunting as it is hypnotizing. Fantastic songwriting, amazing atmosphere, great debut!

Heavy Fucking Metal
I guess you could say that, on many accounts, I have been Court In the Act of headbanging to this album like a crazy person.
Extreme doom

Album title says it all
It's not groundbreaking, it's not genre-defining, it's not brutal, surprising, innovative. It's, simply put, cool. And that's all it needs to be to please me.

Post-metal
At times overwhelming to the senses, Tacit will make you look inside yourself with dizzying melodies; it will make you convulse with the bursts of energy it unleashes and it will leave a mark, a scar if you will, that you will want to revisit frequently. It is a colossus of soothing ambiences to get lost in.

Folk-y Prog Rock/Metal with some BM aesthetics
Just listen to it.

Death Metal - God Tier
Ulcerate practically need no introduction on this site anymore. They are endeared with the respect and awe of almost everyone that's heard them. If you haven't yet heard them I bet you're well curious about them now, eh?

Funtastic Tech-Death
Disappointed by the recent !T.O.O.H.! album? Well let's not forget the existence of this then. Featuring Wokis of the aforementioned !T.O.O.H.! at the helm, this wonderful little Duobetic Homunkulus EP is far more likely to appease those dissatisfied fans than anything else released this year. Not only is this one of the most creative tech-death records ever made, it's probably the most fun. It quite literally doesn't take itself too seriously; something pretty rare for the genre.
