Progressive Post-Metal / Sludge
It's always a thrill when hyped bands such as Intronaut release new material, but fortunately the band delivers! An album that changes colors every time you give it a listen.

Hop on the Intronaut bandwagon or get out of the way, bitch.

Post-Metal / Atmospheric Sludge / Ambient
Definitely among the best albums of the year. Rosetta are pushing the boundaries of metal once again, practically raising it to a form of art. Brilliant release through and through!

Suomi metal
Clear melancholia and pure sadness, the essential Finnish way. Just delightful, isn't it?
And just like that, a little piece of Sentenced lives on. Winter cannot come fast enough...

Deathcore
If there's one worthwhile deathcore album released in 2010, that you'll still be playing when you're old and flatulent, it's Ion Dissonance's meteorite of a record. Intelligent deathcore that will wreck your head!

(Thanks again Dangerboner for the tip!)

Melodic Death metal
Modern melodic death metal never sounded so fresh... and surpassingly versatile... and crushing.

Spiced up with the female vocals of ex-Distorted singer Miri Milman, Aborted frontman Sven de Caluwé is back with another unforgiving assault of an album!

Melancholic Melodic Death metal
Gentle reminder: Insomnium is awesome.

FYI, there's also a new Insomnium song, "Weather Storm", online. Rare and previously unreleased. All you have to do is share this link on Facebook or Twitter to receive a free download of the song (plus a track by some band called Dark Tranquillity), or wait until some wise guy uploads the whole thing on YouTube. The song features a guest appearance by Mikael Stanne.
Mathcore / Technical Hardcore / Deathcore
Pretty good stuff. And with good I mean twisted, heavy-as-fuck and delightfully disfigured. Probably more metal than you can handle, but still, it's sure as shit worth giving a shot.

Cephalic Carnage is the kind of trip you can't make sober. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll whoe. You'll whoa. You'll dance the night away in trance... only to wake up in a dumpster five hours later.

God, I ♥ progressive disco.
Post-Metal
Exactly one year ago, post-metal "super-group" Battle Of Mice broke up. Not enough Kleenex boxes can describe the tragedy of this event, as they really could have accomplished so much more together...

To commemorate this sad anniversary, I want you to play the band's only full-length album over and over and over again, and be stunned by its many layers of sheer brilliance. Sleep and dream...

This is an album that is as awesomely relaxing as it is uplifting. Perfectly suited for a non-metal coffee break!

Thrash! Thrash! Thrash!
Why re-invent the wheel, when you can keep it classy and old school? This is solid and entertaining thrash, with a certain old-and-thus-good Megadeth caliber. You should really give these guys a shot if you're remotely into thrash.

"This is so unexpected. We got ALL the votes? Wow.

Thanks goes out to the bitch that inspired this heartfelt and sorrowful album. Your fine sense for melodrama will for always reflect in the somber and emotive atmosphere of this majestic album. Also thanks to our singer Vitacca who really carries this album with his distressing vocals.

Peace."

Tired of all that heavy shit I've been recommending lately? Yeah, me too. Here's something to relax.

Landmine Marathon's soothing lullabies will put you into a peaceful slumber in no time. Get comfortable on these meditative tunes that are everything but face-ripping. Lay back and concentrate on that calm voice, which sounds nowhere near ferocious female grunts and screams. And enjoy those beautiful dreams of not being a giant pussy.

Grindcore / Sludge / more Grindcore
Easily the discovery of the year; this band just slays babies.

Obliterating everything within sight, this album is a crushing and punishing assault of pure metal mayhem with a twist. Wish I had lost my virginity to this harsh and merciless album...

Highly recommended!
