Steve Vai - Former Bassist Dead At 72
Guitar World is reporting that funk bass legend T.M. Stevens passed away last Sunday (March 10th) at the age of 72 after years of battling health issues. In addition to a solo career, as well as working as a session bassist with everyone from James Brown to Billy Joel, Stevens contributed to Steve Vai's 1993 album Sex & Religion (which also featured a then-unknown Devin Townsend) and had also worked with Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist Al Pitrelli.

Steve Vai and Legacy Recordings are about to release a special 2CD edition of the Passion And Warfare album which includes the first-ever release of Vai's Modern Primitive songs and recordings. The music on Modern Primitive has been completed by Vai for release as a full album disc and the 2nd CD is the bonus remastering of the Passion And Warfare 25th Anniversary Edition. The first disc ''Modern Primitive'' includes songs and recordings written from the time between the recording of Passion And Warfare and his first solo album Flex-Able.
