German metallers Suidakra have issued the following update on their official website:

"Quite some time has passed since the last update. We have been in North America, which was great as always! Check out some pics here. Thanks to all of you who came out to the shows! We had a good time and hope to come back soon...

Right now we're on the next tour already, riding through France and Switzerland. Check out the tour dates and come to the gigs if you can make it! Unfortunately the London show in June will go on without our participation due to organisational problems beyond our control. Sorry for that!

Our Emprise To Avalon album was re-released recently. Originally out on Century Media in the year 2002, Emprise To Avalon has surely become a Suidakra classic over the years. It was out of print for some time, but now you may purchase it here. Brandnew "15 Years anniversary" T-shirts are available as well...

The best at the end: We started to write new music for the next album and have about 4 songs finished so far! Recording is supposed to start in December; we'll keep you updated..."

Suidakra have issued the following update on their MySpace:

"Suidara is going to China! It will be a mini tour in June with three shows in Shenyang, Beijing and Shanghai, which will no doubt prove quite an experience for Chinese fans and the band alike! The trip will hopefully be filmed and documented in a tour diary like that of the US tour.

Suidakra are also pleased to welcome new guitar player Sebastian Hintz as a full band member. He's a hell of a nice guy and knows to rip his guitar and vocal cords on stage, plus he's already contributed some backing vocals on the latest record "Crógacht". Suidakra will be featured on the forthcoming Running Wild sampler "ReUnation - A Tribute To Running Wild" (more info here and here). The track "Marooned" will be put through the Suidakra meat grinder and it will rip your wooden legs off, aye!"

According to a New Year's posting on the band's website, 2009 is to be expected a good year for Suidakra and it starts right now with the release of the band's brand new video clip for the track "Shattering Swords" taken from the new album "Crógacht". "Crógacht" will be released via Wacken Records/SPV on February 20 (Germany), February 23 (rest of Europe) and March 3 (N. America).

"At first big thanks to everybody who attended Chicago Powerfest and one (or even more) of the six Paganfest USA West Coast dates to witness our first live appearance on the North American continent! We knew before that there were some SuidAkrA fans coming to the shows, but we were absolutely, positively surprised at how many people really knew our music. To see people start singing along made each show a big metal party from the minute we started playing ? it was a blast! There were people flying in from Alaska and even Japan to see us and it was a big pleasure to talk with them and a lot of other fans after the shows. Admittedly, there were also a number of people that hadn't heard of SuidAkrA before, but we felt that they also got into it and had a good time nevertheless... Read our tour report with tons of pictures here!

Right after the US tour we started working on new material again. We managed to nearly complete the whole new record musically! In addition we have finalized the vocal arrangements of 4 songs and therefore we can reveal the first song titles: "Scathach", "Gilded Oars", "Shattering Swords", "Isle Of Skye".

We will play some festivals this summer, but there won't be any new shows announced except what's online here already! Maybe we'll meet some of you at WACKEN this year, but for a change, we're not playing -just attending. Haha.

Last but not least there are 2 new guitar tabs for you to download: "Heresy" and "A Menhir's Clay", taken from our Best Of CD!"

"It's been quite a while since you guys last got an update on the actions of SuidAkrA, but don't be fooled into thinking they've taken a well earned holiday!! The forthcoming DVD & Best Of CD package has been keeping them busy and it's paid off -- apart from the final layout, everything's finished. The content of the DVD has changed since it was first announced -- it will now feature SuidAkrA's Wacken 2007 show, instead of Wacken 2006. Expect an early 2008 release for this fine package; more info about the exact date and tracklisting will follow soon and, of course, will appear here first.

The first tourdates for 2008 have been confirmed, hopefully there's something near you! 2008 will probably not see as much live action from SuidAkrA as 2007 did, because attention is beginning to turn to the next album! They have just started working on some new songs which will eventually form their next (multi-platinum selling) record

Autumn is the season for change and moving on, so the band would like to wish all the best to Marcel who has decided to take a step back from all band activities in order to concentrate fully on his job. A new live guitar player has already been recruited and will play the forthcoming shows."

Finally, a few words from SuidAkrA themselves: "We have the chance to play in the United States in 2008! Unfortunately, it costs a shitload of money for flights and whatnot to make this happen... Suidakra will be going into Gernhart Studio to record some old tracks and re-mastering the newer ones for a Best Of compilation. This album will be released together with a live DVD containing the Wacken 2006 show, the acoustic show at the Kielowatt Festvial 2006 and various other video clips. This fine package will be complimented graphical with artwork by Kris Verwimp, so this will surely be a must-have for every Suidakra fan, and fans of the future! More info soon.

The band has also posted some news about their upcoming performance at Wacken Open Air festival: "Just a few days left until Wacken Open Air! As a surprise and as an additional incentive (as if it was needed!) for you to be at front of the Black Stage for 11 PM on Friday, the band will be accompanied by Axel and his highland bagpipes! The opportunity to see Suidakra live on stage with bagpipes doesn't happen every day, so be sure not to miss it!"

German death metallers Suidakra have completed the production of their new album "Caledonia" to be released November 17th with Armageddon Music. The follow-up to "Command to Charge" was recorded at Gernhart Records studio in Siegburg, Germany and features artwork by Kris Verwimp at http://www.armageddonmusic.de/php/news/uploaded_images/image40.jpg.

According to the band webpage, "Caledonia" adopts the lyrical concept of ancient Scottish history, and has such as "Highland Hills," "Forth-Clyde," and "The IXth Legion."
