Monster Magnet - Guitarist Leaves The Band

Monster Magnet frontman Dave Wyndorf has announced the departure of longtime guitarist Ed Mundell, who decided to leave the band earlier this week after eighteen years of service. Here's the word from Wyndorf:

"After 18 years Ed's left Monster Magnet for "personal reasons" What can I say? He told me this two months ago and I gave him some time for him to perhaps reconsider but no go. It's a bummer, yeah but we've been through this kind of thing before. Make no mistake, Magnet goes on. We start the "Mastermind" tour tonight in Cologne, Germany with Phil Caivano and Garrett Sweeny handling duel guitar chores.

I'd like to thank Ed for the immense talent he's brought to the band over the years and wish him good luck in whatever he decides to do next. Good luck Ed, we''l miss you!"

The Autumn Offering - Are Calling It Quits

Matt McChesney, vocalist of US metalcore act The Autumn Offering, has issued an official statement announcing the band is taking a "long break," and quite possibly even breaking up. Here's the full message:

"Due to guitarist Tommy Church leaving the band, as well as a million other things, we have decided to take a long break. Possibly just end it, depending on what happens. We haven't been dropped by our label or anything, we are just burnt out.

There is no reason to go on and on with bullshit, we are all friends. All you guys know we love you. Personally, I wish everyone well, in whatever they choose to do. As for myself, I have a new band with guitarist Jesse Nunn. We will enter the studio next month with producer Logan Mader to start our new record. It's not going to be a metal band, as I am personally done with metal for awhile. I'm disgusted with the state of it, and I dont want to be a part of it.

I've always been a well rounded musician, and the early 90's movement of bands such as Soundgarden and Alice In Chains have always held a special place in my heart. I've always wanted to front a rock band, and I'm exited to start. There's been quite a bit invested into this project by some powerful people, so the pressure is on. We plan to deliver. I'm sure whatever Brian and Tom decided to do, it will be rad. They are great musicians. Matt Johnson has become quite the engineer, I'm sure he will leave his mark.

Take care everyone, it's been a blast."

The band released a self-titled album on August 31 via Victory Records.

Natron - Forced To Postpone European Tour

Italian death metallers Natron are postponing their European tour to next spring 2011. Natron drummer Max Marzocca expains:

"We have to announce another bad news: unfortunately we have to cancel this tour with Mumakil, and even this time again it's something not depending on the band. Mumakil fellas suddenly weren't available for touring for health problems with one of their members so they were forced to quit. After forwarding the sad news to the clubs/promoters we received responses regarding a possible line up change and they were not positive at all. Some clubs confirmed their shows but some others not. Frankly, we thought well to renounce and cancel it. Really this is the last thing we want to do after months of hard work but we didn't see alternatives: the short time we had in front of us to replace those shows was not helping at all and mainly several days off in the scheduling didn't make sense to continue!

Sorry for these bad news but we can say that another tour is in the band plan next spring 2011, so stay tuned and be sure to check the tour dates as soon as they 'll posted on this space!"
