Demon Hunter - New Album Details Revealed

Original news, posted on 10.01.2010

Official press release

Demon Hunter will release The World Is A Thorn on March 9, 2010 in-stores and online.

The band's fifth album follows the landmark documentary 45 Days, last year's Live In Nashville collection and a catalog of landmark albums that have made the band one of the most important in the genre.

The World Is A Thorn was produced by the band's longtime collaborator Aaron Sprinkle (Acceptance, Anberlin, The Almost) and mixed by powerhouse producer Jason Suecof (All That Remains, Trivium). It's a pairing emblematic of how skillfully Demon Hunter has always blended metallic might with melody.

It's a well-worn cliche these days for a band to say their new album is "our heaviest but also our most melodic," but Demon Hunter delivers in spades with this release. Songs like "Descending Upon Us," "Lifewar" and the title track are by far the most aggressive of the band's career, "This is the Line" and "Collapsing" are a couple of the fist-pumping but still hard-driving anthems and "Driving Nails" is one of two ballads on the album the likes of which their fans have come to both expect and cherish.

The album formally introduces guitarists Patrick Judge (who joined the band as a touring guitarist in 2008 and is now a full-time member) and Ryan Helm (of The Ascendicate) with a new batch of songs written by co-founder and vocalist Ryan Clark. Yogi Watts returns with another jaw-dropping drum performance, backed up by longtime bass player Jonathan Dunn. The World Is A Thorn is a definitive mission statement from a band at a creative apex, firing on all cylinders with awe-inspiring intensity.

"The album title refers to the often harmful and destructive world that we live in," explains Clark. "Most of the songs deal with the current state of the nation and the world as a whole. In particular, the lyrics take aim at the ideals of a Godless people and the depletion of our morals and values."

Demon Hunter has always been a Christian band and has represented their point of view strongly, despite the larger trend of watered down philosophies that straddle the line for popularity's sake. This stance has won them respect from fellow believers and opposite points of view alike.

"In this age it has seemingly become more and more detestable to be a Christian," Clark elaborates. "Our opinions on social and political issues are no longer tolerated as valid and we are commonly viewed as the enemy. Subjective truth, self-love, unrestricted perversion, the destruction of morality: these are the things that have ultimately brought us to a place of depression and madness.

Charred Walls Of The Damned - New Album Streaming, Video Online

As Charred Walls Of The Damned prepare for their self-titled debut album out February 2nd 2010 - the group is gearing up for their official release by giving fans the chance to listen to the album in its entirety via Noisecreep.com. The metal site will host the stream Monday January 25th to Monday February 1st so be sure to head over and check it out.

Richard Christy comments; "Well, the time is now here and I'm so psyched for the fans to be able to finally hear the full album! I'm so proud of the metal that Tim, Steve, Jason and I have made and I know that our passion definitely shines through in the music! We had so much fun making this album and now it's time for all of you fellow Metalheads to have fun listening to it."

Despite his hectic work schedule, last year Christy announced that he was putting together a new musical project through Metal Blade Records called Charred Walls of the Damned. The group's lineup reads like a who's who of metal with Tim "Ripper" Owens Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beyond Fear] on vocals, Steve DiGiorgio Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth, Quo Vadis, Dragonlord] playing bass and Trivium (among many others) producer Jason Suecof Capharnaum, Crotchduster] handling the guitar duties. To say that the anticipation for this band is high would be a major understatement.

The band's new video for the track "Ghost Town" can be watched below. "I'm so psyched about how amazing the "Ghost Town" video turned out," Christy told Noisecreep over lunch recently in Hollywood, CA. Directed by Mike Schiff from M.A.S. Productions, the apocalyptic clip just bleeds metal. "We were able to film in one of my favorite haunted houses in Pennsylvania called Shocktoberfest, which was really exciting for me because anyone who knows me personally knows I'm a massive Halloween and haunted house fan."

WildeStarr - New Video Online

"Arrival", the new video from US metallers WildeStarr, has been made available online.

According to the band, the video (produced and directed by London Wilde) is a visually stunning sci-fi work of art combining dark elements of "Blade Runner", "Batman", "The Outer Limits", and classic film noir. The dramatic visuals are a perfect compliment to the power and intensity of WildeStarr's headbanging fury - and metalheads will soon get the opportunity to check out this striking clip.

"Arrival" comes off the band's latest album, Arrival, which was released on August last year via Furnace Maximus Records.

Evocation - Working On New Material

Swedish death metallers Evocation have issued the following update:

"Dear brothers and sisters, it's January 2010 and it's cold, dark and kinda depressive. This is the perfect conditions for us to start recording our full length #3, which is also once again going to be released by the mighty Cyclone Empire in the fall this year; we're aiming at October. We have 11 new tracks and right now we are finishing up our pre-recordings and we have to say that it feels really good. The sound will be more raw but it will still be as Evocation as one can expect - plain, raw and brutal. Some of the new songs will hit your faces with such a force that you will have trouble recovering afterwards.

We leave 2009 with proud faces, having such a good festival summer and last but not least the mighty European tour together with Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Obscura. All of the bands were amazing both in private as on stage. This leaves us nothing but strength and confidence for the next album and hunger for more, more and more. So our dear friends we see you soon, and prepare your selfs for a reunion in war."
