Vader - Live In Egypt And South America

On 11th of April Vader will play an exclusive show in Egypt. That's gonna be one of the first death metal shows in that part of the world! The show will take place in Kair at La Villa Club. Local acts Worm and Dark Philosphy will appear on stage as support acts. The show will be organized by Music Gates agency. "That will be definitely an exciting outing, Vader have never played in Egypt and frankly speaking, we feel almost like pioneers trying to put up a death metal flag on a "no-man's-land". We have some doubts (concerning safety and gig's organization) but hopefully the organizers of the show will do the best to make this show an unforgettable experience both for the fans and the band. We are going to play a great concert for a great audience and be back home safe and sound." - Mariusz Kmiolek (Massive Music).

In the meantime, also Dubai-based death/thrash band Nervecell have been confirmed as the support act on the night. It will mark Nervecell's second appearance in Egypt, as the band had previously headlined the Egypt Metal Festival in March 2007.

Two weeks before this show Vader will appear on South American tournee, playing 10 shows together with Marduk in such countries as Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.

Brain Drill - Disband After Tour Incidents

US Technical Death Metal/Grindcore band Brain Drill have broken up. Guitarist Dylan Ruskin has posted the following epic explanation on the band's MySpace page:

"Three members of Brain Drill (being Steve, Marco, Jeff) have huge weed smoking habits. I do not and couldn't be more against smoking weed. I don't have a problem if you do it but just be smart about it. Before we left for this tour with the Black Dahlia Murder I told them a million times not to bring weed, pipes, etc. with them in the van because we are driving across the country and the last thing we need is to get pulled over and arrested for possession. The laws in CA are nothing compared other states. They don't listen to me and go ahead and bring pipes weed, papers and even brought an ounce of mushrooms. We get pulled over outside of Salt Lake City, UT, right after they had just smoked a blunt. The car smelled like weed. The cop comes up to the window and he says is "I smell pot," so they take us out of the car and they search the van. They tear it apart and even use a dog to sniff out everything. They find the weed, pipes, and mushrooms. I was convinced that we were going to jail but for whatever reason they let us go. After we pulled away I told them "from now on the rule of the band is to not ever bring weed pipes or other drugs into the van and also not to smoke in the van." Jeff's response: "I don't think that's gonna happen, bro." They neglected to listen to me and the next day there were more pipes and accessories in the van. We then get pulled over another 4 times before our first show. Miraculously we didn't get searched again.

We play the tour and we had an awesome time. Our last show was supposed to be in Buffalo. I had bought a stockpile of firecrackers which are legal in South Carolina so I was not 100% innocent but a lot less than them. We start driving and soon we see a sign for Canada, I asked everyone it looks like we are headed for Canada are you guys sure we shouldn't stop and turn around? I even took a wrong turn and as we were looking for the freeway? the sign says 'Canada straight ahead.' No one answered me so I continued to drive. Sure enough we get to the Canadian border. They ask us for our passports I said we only have our IDs. We show the guy our IDs he then writes us a ticket and makes us pull over. The guy said 'since you guys don't have passports we are going to have to search your vehicle.' They find everybody's weed. They find Steve's knife and Jeff's knife and my firecrackers. Steve and Jeff start to flip out on the border patrol and start cursing and saying 'this is bullshit, this is the first and last time I'm ever coming to Canada.' The cops asked 'why are you guys making this such a big deal?' They responded, 'because this is bullshit.' The cop said 'since you think it's bullshit we are now going to give you all full body cavity searches.' I was the first one to get searched. They stripped me naked had me lift my ballsack up so they could check underneath it, and then had me bend over and spread my asscheeks apart so they could look inside my asshole. After they finished searching all of us we were never going to make it to the Buffalo show. All of this shit could have been prevented if they had just listened to me. Also, they let me keep my firecrackers and told me, 'The reason we are searching you is because we found weed in Jeff's van.' They said nothing about the firecrackers.

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - Get New Female Guitarist

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter will be supported by Lady Cat-Man on guitar from now on. She will replace guitarist Pitrone, who the band split up with.

A statement of the band on http://www.reitermania.de reads as follows: "Hello Maniacs. There was a line up change. Pitrone is no longer part of the band. His job as guitarist will be taken over by Lady Cat-Man this instant. We hesitated for a long time to take this step, but there were many reasons to let Pitrone go and look for a replacement.

Not many of you know that Pitrone himself wanted to leave in May 2006. That hit us like a ten ton hammer back then since "Riders On The Storm" was about to be released and the Riders-tour in autumn was threatened. After a week of looking desperately for a replacement we got a surprise call from Pitrone, saying that he wanted to continue after all. So hold your horses? Since the schedule was so tight we hardly had the time to think it over. Still, the bitter aftertaste lingered. Not on tour, not during backstage parties, but being home alone with all the sudden silence there was the feeling that something wasn't working, somehow everything felt tainted.

In the past few months the impression got stronger that it was no longer five guys standing on the same side of things. Small things cumulated, the anger was rising, different views on the sound of the band became obvious. For a long time it was unthinkable to continue without Pitrone, but the harder we were working on the new album the more we got unsatisfied with him. We talked with him many times about what should be improved and about the fact that we were unhappy with the situation. We have been waiting for a sign from his side for a long time - until we couldn´t wait any longer.

This wasn't a decision against Pitrone as a person. We have had lots of awesome months, weeks and days together since 2002. We would like to thank him for all the unforgettable moments. But in the end we had a decision to make. A decision against Pitrone, but in favour of the band. This is not about having a bad phase. We´re all just human beings and nobody can be hypercreative all of the time. But we simply had the feeling that Pitrone couldn't invest much enthusiasm in the band in the last couple of months. So we consider this step inevitable.

We´re currently housed in the Principal studio (where also "Riders On The Storm" was recorded) to record our new album. This one will be released end of summer. Don´t expect anything less than an absolute killer record! The sound is damn heavy, melodic and chock full of surprises. Lady Cat-Man may look like an angel, but she's playing like the devil! Treat our Metal sister real nice, she is part of the family now."

Officium Triste - Line Up Change

Once again we can inform you about a change within Officium Triste's line up. After much thought Martin has decided to quit drumming and start focusing on the synth-parts. As one of the main composers he has always had a big influence on the music and especially the synths. So, from now on he'll be doing the synths and he keeps on writing music. His decision has a lot to do with the fact he's living in Germany and he feels he cannot deliver what is needed for the band when talking about rehearsing and doing live gigs. Therefore, Martin has decided to switch to synths exclusively. This will give the band much more opportunities and we're happy to see Martin in this setting.

We are also very happy to announce that all drum duties will be taken over by Ronald Lagerwaard (ex- Imbolc, Absent Mind, Perpetual Misery) from now on. He has proven to be a great drummer and is very motivated to be part of the the tight rhythm section for Officium Triste.

Pestilence - Touring With Former Guitarist Patrick Uterwijk

According to a posting on Blabbermouth Patrick Uterwijk will join Pestilence as touring guitarist.

Dutch guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the upcoming album and tour from his resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metal outfit Pestilence: "Although previous statements about a Pestilence reunion with original members (which I think still isn't my intention), it's with great pleasure to announce that none other than Patrick Uterwijk will be touring once again with Pestilence next year. "After almost six years, I got in touch with Patrick U. through a mutual friend, Sean Sitka. He gave me Uterwijk's mail address and phone number stressing me I have to call the guy since Tymon K. wasn't gonna work out because of his involvement with CYNIC. We spoke for one and a half hour about the past and future. "Although he will not be recording for the new album, he got very excited about the new material as well. We also spoke about his illness because of the energy it takes to do a tour." Uterwijk said in a statement: "I'm feeling great and doctors think now I'm probably not suffering from M.S. at all (first diagnoses at the time made doctors think this was the case). This off course is great news as well!!!! So now, people can enjoy Pestilence live in an almost original and familiar setting!!!"

Krisiun - Sign USA Deal With Strictly Heavy Management

BW&BK has received a Krisiun press release stating the band signed with Strictly Heavy Management on March 1st. It appears below:

"It is often the case, a successful metal band will seek out management assistance after being signed to a major label, touring the world, and even selling many records. A decision not easily reached, likely due to the many management horror stories reported among our industry peers. With long-term career aspirations, the Brazilian Death Metal band Krisiun sought a personal management agreement with Strictly Heavy Management, owned and operated by the veteran personal manager, Theresa C. Mullins-Aldao.

Strictly Heavy Management is proud to announce the signing of Krisiun to an exclusive North American territory personal management deal. Strictly Heavy Management (SHM) was founded in 1995, with it's first three (3) metal bands on the roster which were also from South America. Owner, Theresa Aldao says, "heavy metal never died down there, but Krisiun's geographic location warrants special attention to communication and functioning details. Krisiun is signed to one of the best metal labels, they tour and sell their products around the world. No doubt the band has incredible label support, but it is my desire to bring them to the forefront. To increase their sale figures, to increase their performance draw, to build their demand. Building the business of the band is what we are all about."

Krisiun is entering the studio March 18th until April 18 2008 in Germany, with their newest LP release this summer, again on Century Media Records. Tour plans are in the works, and considerable strategies for long-term industry opportunities are planned."

Detonation - Announces New Guitarist

After playing together in the same line-up for over 10 years, Dutch melodic thrashers Detonation are now making their first ever line-up change.

The band has welcomed Danny Tunker (also Fuelblooded, The Saturnine) to the ranks to handle the guitar. This automatically means that co-founder Koen Romeijn (Guitar/Vocals) will lay down his guitar within Detonation, and that he will be focusing on the vocals only from this point on.

Commented vocalist Koen Romeijn:

We all felt the need for a change within Detonation, and I had been thinking about focusing on the vocals for quite some time now, so I decided to bring in my idea to the group. Mike, Otto and Thomas were all quite shocked that this decision came from me, but they were all positively surprised. Danny, besides being one of our closest friends, is easily one of the best guitar players in the Netherlands, and we all believe that he is the only person suitable for the job. So from now on, he will be handling my guitar parts, and I will start focusing my energy on the vocals, which without doubt will be a positive change for our live shows and performance and most important; our future albums! As for the creative aspect, I will still function as one of the songwriters for Detonation, as I have been doing since the beginning of this band, so no worries for the die-hard Detonation fans haha! I personally can't wait for Danny to join us on stage and in the writing process of our upcoming 4th album!

Commented Danny Tunker:

Detonation have been among my favourite bands for years, even before I first met them while touring the UK with Fuelblooded. We immediately hit it off on a personal level. Fast forward 2 years and I was very surprised and honoured to be asked to join them. I know this must've been a tough decision, but thanks for giving me this chance guys! Let's do this!

Summer Slaughter Tour 2008 - Tour Dates

Ten bands, representing five different countries, will join forces June 20th in Detroit to kick off the Summer Slaughter Tour of 2008.

Summer Slaughter founder Ash Avildsen had this to say regarding the tour: "After the astounding success of Summer Slaughter 2007 and the high demand from the underground metal community for bringing the tour back for a second year, we had no choice but to make it a reality again! We put a lot of time, thought and effort in to assembling one of the most diverse, yet cohesive extreme metal line-ups the genre has ever seen. While all the bands share the common theme of progressive musicianship and technical brutality, they all still clearly have their own distinct sound and vibe that they bring to the mix."

The Black Dahlia Murder frontman Trevor Strnad comments: "We're very excited to be part of this year's Summer Slaughter line up. It is a complete honor for us to be playing alongside so many powerhouses of extreme music. Come out to the shows and show your support!"

Advance tickets are only $20 across the nation. Quotes from all the bands and more information on the tour can be found at the official MySpace page.

Ash Avildsen continued, "I'd like to thank Necrophagist for launching this tour with us last year as well as Prosthetic Records, Metal Blade and Nick Storch for helping make this year come together. I would also like to personally thank Hot Topic for stepping up to the plate and heavily supporting the most extreme tour of the year. They are truly a key player in the modern state of heavy f'ing metal and their involvement in this tour is living proof of that statement!"

Decapitated - DVD Out In June

Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce release of the first ever DVD by Decapitated! The material entitled "Human's Dust" will be released on 9th June in Europe and 10th June in USA.

This Polish death metal band was formed in 1996 when the average age of the band members was just 14. All attending the music school, yet facing ridicule with the release of their debut demo ("Cemeteral Gardens", June '97) due to their young age, they succeeded in gaining respect with sound that convinced many that Decapitated is not just another ordinary band. With the follow-up demo ("The Eye of Horus", October '98), the band's abilities really began to shine?. Many people focused on Decapitated's age as a reason to doubt them - the fact was that the band were already becoming an established live act throughout Poland, and in working so hard on the road had earned themselves a cult reputation as genuine contenders rather than simple novelties. Further exposure was garnered by the inclusion of their tracks on the 2000 Relapse Records "Polish Assault" compilation alongside Yattering, Lost Soul and Damnable. Their first album entitled "Winds Of Creation", recorded for Earache subsidiary Wicked World, was produced by VADER's Piotr Wiwczarek. Released in April 2000, the record immediately struck the world-wide attention of death metal fans and the band began to be hailed as potential big league players. They've released 4 studio albums so far ("Winds Of Creation" 2000, "Nihility" 2002, "The Negation" 2004, "Organic Hallucinosis" 2006). The band's early demos were released by Metal Mind Productions on a CD entitled "The First Damned".

Today Decapitated return with their first official DVD release. "Human's Dust" will be released by Metal Mind Productions on 9th June in Europe and 10th June in USA. DVD will be available in two versions: as a standard DVD and as a very unique star metalpack DVD edition limited to 3000 copies!

The main feature of the DVD consists of the band's gig in Krakow (October 2002), which was a part of their European tour along with Vader and Krisiun. Bonus materials include two live performances recorded during Ozzfest in Poland (May 2002) and Metalmania Festival(March 2004), a video clip "Winds of Creation" plus three interviews recorded at various locations: Kraków, 2002 (Vitek and Vogg), Ozzfest in Katowice, 2002 (Vogg and Sauron), Metalmania in Katowice, 2004 (Sauron and Martin). Photo gallery, biography, discography, desktop images, weblinks. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.

Mithras - Part Ways With Candlelight Records

Leon Macey from Mithras has posted the following statement:

"Firstoff, we're no longer signed to Candlelight Records. Although we signed with them for a possible three albums (of which "Behind The Shadows Lie Madness" was the first), Candlelight decided not to take up the option in our contract for what we're just calling "album four" atm, giving the reason that we don't tour. While we're not particularly disgruntled by this, it did come as a bit of a surprise given the fact we made them aware we weren't a touring band when they signed us (and we signed as a duo). However, the music industry has changed a lot over the last few years and it is definitely a different and harder market these days. Nonetheless, it was a great experience working with Candlelight on "Behind The Shadows..." and we wish them all the best for the future. Work continues on album four as I type this...

But rather than start a hunt for a new record label and go through agonising negotiations, we've taken the astoundingly obvious and logical step of signing to my own label Galactic Records for our next release, which is scheduled to be an extensive double cd package and celebrates the 10th anniversary of Mithras. More details to follow..."
