Illdisposed - Sign With AFM Records

Danish Extreme Metal act Illdisposed have signed with AFM Records. The official press release goes as follows:

"There are band who come out and play, and there are bands who just simply rock and kick every ass! Illdisposed are maybe the coolest and most sick rockstars on earth - but they just simply rule! Since their debut album "Four Depressive Seasons" in 1993 the band did nine killer albums including their current Roadrunner release "Burn Me Wicked".

Finally Illdisposed have signed a new deal with AFM Records, who set up the release date for their 10th strike on March, 28th 2008.

Guitar player Jakob Batten comments: "I am happy to announce that we have signed a new worldwide record deal with AFM Records. This will be the beginning of a new chapter in the illdisbook and we're looking forward to work with these guys. It's time for being a priority now. For some years our albums have been limited to Europe and a few other territories - now it's time for the whole world to be able to buy our albums at their local album pusher again. The new album will contain 12 songs of groovy brutality."

At this point the band is in middle of the songwriting process, and it is obvious that we can expect something really big!"

Machine Head - Bassist Injured, Forced To Sit Out Tour

According to the website of Roadrunner Records the bassist of Machine Head, Adam Duce, get injured while doing some Dirt Biking in Redding, California.
The first diagnose was a bad sprain of his leg, but additional physical examinations and an x-ray revealed that his leg actually was broken. This diagnose required surgery to attach a steel plate and two screws to the broken bone.

A disappointed Duce commented this accident: "It sucks to be in this position, because we have such a killer tour set up for the end of the summer and now we'll have to find a replacement for me. I've never missed one show that this band has ever played up to this point and I never thought I would see the day when Machine Head would be playing and I wouldn't be on stage."

For the time beeing the band is currently doing some rehearsing with possible temporary bass players and is in the final steps of selecting an adequate replacement for Duce. An additional announcement will be made as soon as a decision has been made.
All gigs of the "Black Tyranny" tour in the US will be played as scheduled. According to the current plannings Duce will the return to the band for the Australian and European gigs of the "Black Crusade" Tour, beginning with the band's appearance on the "Loudpark" festival in Japan.

Kataklysm - Entered Studio Last Week

The band entered the studio last week with producer and guitarist J-f Dagenais, - drummer Max Duhamel will be first laying down the drum work for "Prevail" - The recording process will last five weeks (hopefully) with vocalist Maurizio Iacono schedualed to record his vocals in September.

Maurizio's comments:
" The album is done and ready to go, although it was a breeze to write this album as things came so naturally, on the lyrics end, I worked the hardest i have in years making sure everything is where it should be,at times it was real difficult but the end result will speak for itself, Im truely convinced this album will take no prisoners, as you know we dont repeat the same record twice, this album stands on a league of its own..and im not saying its our best album, because only the fans have the right to say wether it is or not, all im saying is I listen to the songs and I wanna punch the fucking wall, that means we are on to something good."

Kataklysm has also hired the services of Producer Jason Suecof (Chimaira / Trivium / The Black Dahlia Murder) to mix the album in early January 2008, "Prevail" will also feature some guest appearances to be announced at a later date.

The highly anticipated album is scheduled for a worldwide release date of May 23rd 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Stay tuned as the band will release a few touring announcements very soon...

Green Carnation - Line Up Split

Green Carnation frontman and guitarist Tchort has announced in an announcement on the band's website that the current line up of Green Carnation has split up.

"Although releasing the amazing concert DVD "A Night Under The Dam" earlier this year, the band felt drained of energy after the miserable organized USA tour put together by The End Records and their booking agent. The End Records being one of the main supporters of the band the last years, bringing hope back to Green Carnation's view on the music business, left the band with broken promises, huge debts, theft of license money and a poor organized tour draining the band for energy. The band doesn't blame The End Records for all of its problems, but they made a bad situation worse by first giving the tour a green light when the conditions for the tour were doomed from the beginning and then later withdraw license money, merchandise money, merchandise and not paying the band or its sound engineer, leaving the band in debts. All of which could have been avoided by cancelling the tour before it started. The End Records lost money on the tour as well, so why it wasn't cancelled when the contracts for the tour were offered to the label, is a unanswered question.

The deal for the tour was that Green Carnation would cover the flights to and from the USA, while the rest of the tour would be covered by The End Records and tour income. But in the end, the band covered the flights, their own fee, the fee of the sound engineer, some of the gas and hotel expenses during the tour, and paid for CD's that were sold during the tour. On top of that The End Records - withdraw the license money from the last album, took all the merch money and the CD's to cover their own losses. What The End Records had to gain from sending the band across the world, driving across the continent of America twice, just to come to a town where the local promoter haven't been seen around for the last 4 months, or arrive at clubs that don't even know you are coming, to clubs where the local promoter put up another show because the booking agent never replied to their booking confirmation so instead they went ahead and booked other tours on the same date.

In the end, it made the band members avoid live situations, tours and business partners. The band members felt they had little or nothing to give anymore, and I don't blame them. I saw where we were heading and it wasn't where we wanted to be at, so instead of ending up with a mediocre album, we decided to call it the quits after the most spectacular release we have produced so far; "A Night Under The Dam" on DVD."

Fall Of The Leafe - Call It Quits

Finnish Atmospheric Gothic Metal/Gothenburg Metal band Fall Of The Leafe have split up after a carreer of eleven years.
Vocalist Tuomas Tuominen has issued the following statement on the band's official website:

"It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that after our last remaining shows in September, Fall of the Leafe is no more.

The reasons that led to this this decision are many and the biggest one I cannot put my finger on. I think we were lead and ultimately forced into this decision by each other, by the same very different tastes and likings that made our music so special, by our private lives and perhaps finally by our own faults as people.

For me, it has been a ten year experience and adventure with my friends and all of you who have shared Fall of the Leafe with us. For that I thank you all. Thank you Jussi, Kaj, Matias, Petri, Miska - it's been a blast."

Fall Of The Leafe's sixth album "Aerolithe" has just been released a few days ago via Firebox Records.

Opeth - To Release Live Album

Official press release:

Peaceville Records is proud to announce the forthcoming release by one of the metal world's greatest acts.

"The Roundhouse concert will always be a very memorable gig for us for many reasons, but most importantly it caught the band at the peak of the "Ghost Reveries" tour. I must say we're quite tight after 18 odd months on the road supporting the record. I'm extremely pleased we got it documented and I hope it will please our beloved fans as well. As an extra bonus we've decided to collaborate with one of our past labels for this release, the legendary Peaceville Records. Here's a toast to Hammy and Lisa for helping us back in the day as well as to the new team for preserving this pleasurable memory for today's music lovers as well as for generations to come." - Mikael Åkerfeldt

'The Roundhouse Tapes' contains a captivating Opeth performance from the Camden Roundhouse, London, UK, on November 9th, 2006 (a gig which also featured Goth metal legends Paradise Lost), and sees the band in scintillating form churning out a selection of classics from their illustrious career. You know what to expect from Opeth: unrivalled composition; seamless progressive dynamics and boundless atmosphere from the mellow to the incredibly heavy, all sealed with the unmistakable vocal presence of mainman Mikael Åkerfeldt.

Since their formation in 1990 in Sweden, Opeth has risen to the forefront of the metal world over the years; bringing many aspects of progressive rock/metal to a whole new audience by combining soft acoustic ambience with complex, melodic & heavy guitar often familiar to forms of death/black metal, perfectly concocted into a completely peerless sound. A constant factor of their success is that the band have never been afraid to experiment with their song-writing ever since their debut album, 'Orchid', in 1994, all the while taking us through some truly magical & hypnotic soundscapes over the years.

Available October 22nd 2007

CD1

01. When
02. Ghost Of Perdition
03. Under The Weeping Moon
04. Bleak

Brutal Truth - Begin Work On New Material

According to a press release of Relapse Records, the guys of reunited seminal grindcore / extreme metal outfit Brutal Truth have begun writing for a new full-length album. The troupe has crafted six brand new songs so far, each one faster and more brutal than the one before it.

Brutal Truth's Danny Lilker elaborates: ""We have 6 new songs in varying stages of evolution that are shaping up to be some of the most intense shit we've ever written. After 8 years it feels damn good to write some really psychotic grind, and we've jumped right into the deep end of the pool. Stylistically it seems to pick up where Sounds of the Animal Kingdom left off with the main difference being we're also incorporating some of the old school type riffing from Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses but at a much faster tempo. We'll keep you posted as things develop!"

Brutal Truth drummer Rich Hoak adds: ""Help, I just can't stop playing faster and faster and faster and faster!!! My arms are gonna fall off of my body!! Totally psyched for total fucking grind!!!"

"Note that for contractual reasons we won't be appearing on the Scandinavian dates of the tour, so the only way for people in Sweden, Denmark and Norway to see us this autumn is to attend our own headline shows in early September.

"To avoid any speculation or gossip, we remind you that this is the first European tour that actually is officially confirmed by us, so the claim by certain news sites that we've 'cancelled' other obligations Iced Earth] in order to be part of this tour therefore aren't valid."

It should be noted that, despite Dark Tranquillity's insistence that their European tour with Iced Earth was never confirmed, Iced Earth's German concert agency Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur (MLK) has gone as far as to produce tour posters featuring Dark Tranquillity's logo (which have been deleted from the site in the meantime) and has announced Dark Tranquillity's participation in the trek on its website. Also ticket distributors still sell tickets with Dark Tranquillity mentioned as special guest.

Mercenary - Entering The Studio

Vocalist Mikkel Sandager of Danish metal act Mercenary has issued the following update:

"Well, first of all, the new album is really progressing rapidly. We are in writing mode and it feels really good to be creative again. I guess I didn't realize how much I had piled up inside because I find myself writing and writing.

"Can't comment on any titles or songs yet but I am really exited about everything I have heard so far. It is going to be very nice to have René in the process as well as he is able to give us the harsh vocals that I couldn't do on 'The Hours That Remain'.

"On another note, I am starting to look very much forward to playing the next show. I guess I have become quite addicted to doing shows and I feel pretty strange to not play any for two or three months.

"We will start recording the new album in late October and hope for a spring 2008 release but no date has been set yet."

Pungent Stench - Split Up

Vocalist/guitarist Martin Schirenc from Austrian long-running Death Metal outfit Pungent Stench, has posted the following message on the band's forum:

"Dear boys and girls!

You probably have noticed that I didn't post any updates on our forthcoming album for the last four weeks and now I have a sad announcement to make:

Due to band internal disputes, both personal and business related, we came to the point where it's impossible to continue making music together.
All upcoming shows have been cancelled and there won't be any further live activities in the future, at least not with the current line-up.
This wasn't an easy decision and, speaking strictly for me, I wish we could have worked things out. Unfortunately, we couldn't come to a compromise settlement. However, I'll do everything in my power to release this album, since I believe it's too good to be trashed and mostly because we owe it to you, our loyal fans! I will also continue making music together with El Gore, who had a big bearing on the new album and is a great musician and friend. I hope you understand my position and I would be pleased to see you at a show of my future musical projects, because I ain't done rockin', yet!

Thank you for your abiding support and sympathy, but the time has come for me to move on and break new ground.

Yours,
Martin Schirenc (el cochino)"

Savage Circus - Parts Ways With Thomen Stauch

As posted on Savage Circus official website:

Umea/Hamburg the 17th of August 2007

Dear Friends,

After the recent events at the Rengsdorf Rock&Blues Festival and the Rock Am Schloss Festival the band sees no perspective any more to go on with our drummer Thomen Stauch. Therefore we immediately release him from all duties.

Even though we are aware of his personal situation we cannot ignore the fact anymore that he is still not able to carry out his duties for Savage Circus. Already in summer 2005 Thomes started to cancel most of his all planed out promotional activities. In 2006 he canceled the Japanese shows and wasn't part of any other activity for the whole year. We gave him this entire year to solve his situation because we deeply hoped that he would be able to recover and to get back into pace again. But instead in spring this year Thomen almost canceled the Circle II Circle tour. Now he canceled two festival shows with extremely short notice again?

We are very sorry, but we cannot take this any more. We supported and backed Thomen up for over 2 1/2 years by now, but as sad as it is we must face that it is just not going anywhere. Even though we still do have a lot of understanding for his situation, we cannot allow the unintended but yet serious damage he is doing to the band in which all of us invest so much energy and work. We do want Savage Circus to happen, but we cannot see it happen with Thomen any more.

We are not looking back in anger, we'd rather like to look into the future. This does not dramatically effect the production of the Dreamland Manor follow-up, but we will need some time to decide and work in a worthy replacement, who will be announced shortly. Therefore the release date will move to early 2008.

We wish Thomen well and hope, that he will find his way.

With deepest regrets,

Emil, Jens and Piet
