Slayer - To Hit The Studio Soon

According to a band spokesperson, US thrash gods Slayer will "go into the studio maybe December, possibly January to start recording" their long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "God Hates Us All". The album will surface on American Recordings' new home, Warner Bros. Records, sometime in 2006. More news as it develops.

In his recent interview with Metal Hammer, Slayer guitarist Kerry King said the following when asked about a new LP: "It seems like everybody under the sun says, 'We want a new record,' but at the same time, they keep saying, 'We'd really like you to come back on tour.' That shit bumps everything on the backburner. The funny this is Dave and me have had a 10-song demo we did up at his house that's been lying around since March 2004. I know Jeff has written a couple , and I've written a couple more since then, so this week we're going to start the process of getting back together and nailing this thing."

The album will feature original drummer Dave Lombardo. He played with the band until 1992, leaving to found Grip Inc. In 2001 Dave rejoined Slayer for the "God Hates Us All" tour, initially as a short-term fill-in, but has remained with the group.

Melechesh - Split With Drummer

Proscriptor and Melechesh will not be working together on recording the upcoming Melechesh album. This was a mutual decision that had to be taken due to the geographic circumstances and overlapping time schedules.

Proscriptor has been a member of Melechesh since 1999 and has recorded two albums with them: Djinn and Sphynx. Both the Melechesh members and Proscriptor had to take this decision; however, this does not affect their comradeship and possibilities for future cooperation.

"We have nothing but high regards for Proscriptor. He is one of the very few true artists that I know of, a dear friend and we appreciate his talent. But this cross Atlantic distance was becoming quite impractical and limited the creative inputs of both of us. I feel confident that we will cooperate musically again in one way or another, but it was simply impossible to do so for the upcoming Melechesh album. Should time permit though, Proscriptor may provide guest vocals on the upcoming (4th) Melechesh album. One thing is for sure: he certainly deserves the medal of honor" Quoted Melechesh founder Ashmedi.

Osmose Productions/The End Records recently released a double digipack Absu anthology compilation CD 'Mythological Occult Metal 1991-2001.' News on the upcoming Melechesh album will follow.

Disillusion - Finishing Song-Writing Process

The following message was delivered at the last Disillusion newsletter:

"It is about time. Since February, Disillusion are working on their second full length record at their Salvation Recording studio in Leipzig and are now very close to finishing the song-writing process. As already presumed months ago: the new record will not be a follow-up to BACK TO TIMES OF SPLENDOR - that is for sure. No fields but motorways, where once were woods now concrete reigns. What then was orange is set ablaze. For all that, the new songs are much more Disillusion than ever before. The band is also looking forward to soon leaving BTTOS behind them, most of all live. Despite the constant attempts to shrink the monolithic material to a live-3-piece, it simply will not get any better.

Still, some concerts are set, most probably the very last
ones for BTTOS:

Nov 19 - Oschatz / E-Werk
Dec 03 - Aue / Winter's Dawn Festival
Dez 10 - Höchen / Glanhalle - Killing Santa Claus Party
Dez 16 - Hamburg / Fundbureau
Dez 17 - Hannover / Underworld
Dez 26 - Bautzen / Power Of Expression Festival
Jan 21 - Bayreuth / KOMM.

Recordings of the new record will probably begin in February - where and how they will be done, will be decided soon. A first, very careful and temporary plan predicts May / June 2006 for release date of the record.

Also, in about 3 weeks there will be a reissue and a special edition of the BTTOS shirts. If you want to call one your own, please check www.disillusion.de/extern.php's=merchandise in some time.

Talk to you very soon,
Disillusion."

Fleshgrind - Calling It A Day

Illinois-based grinders Fleshgrind have posted the following message on their official website:

"We regretfully wish to inform everyone that Fleshgrind has officially called it quits. For some that's good news, for others it's gonna suck. The reasoning behind this decision was not an easy one after 13 years but we feel this is the best time to move on. Before our last show about a month ago vocalist Rich Lispcomb formally stepped down from the position. Instead of contemplating replacing Rich with another vocalist, the remaining three members: Steve Murray, James Genenz, and Jesse Kehoe; have decided to move on in a new project. It just wouldn't be right calling ourselves Fleshgrind if Rich isn't involved. Rich has decided he needs a life change. His heart just wasn't into it anymore, business wise and artistically, so he is moving on. He sold his business, United Guttural Records, and will be moving to Michigan to get on with his life.

The three of us have no hard feelings towards Rich and his decision, and respect him even more for coming out about how he felt, and we are excited about the uninhibited possibilites for our new project. We are currently undergoing a group soul search to determine our direction in our future endeavors, and will be looking for a singer and possibly a second guitarist to fill out the group, although that search has yet to get underway. For now we just wish to respectfully put Fleshgrind to rest. We wish to thank every single person that has ever supported us in any way. You all know who you are.

The MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/fleshgrind will stay active for some time to come. News and information on our future efforts will be available here until everything is set in stone. We will be looking for members in the coming weeks. Again, we thank everyone for their support!"

Amon Amarth - North American Preparation Underway

Amon Amarth are gearing up for their return to North America, the band sent this message out to fans:

"Alright, just a week left until we head out on tour again! Starting with two off shows half-way; on Iceland. It was hard to put a set together with the time limit we have (30 min) but it is a deadly intense set! It's going to be cool to come back to North American soil again after two years and we look forward touring with Children of Bodom and Trivium. It's going to be an awesome ride with many of the shows already sold out! Remember to be there early since we're first up to play!"

Tony Laureano - Multiple Projects Update

The Drummer post the following message at his official website:

"Alright, a quick heads up to let people what's going on with me in the next few months. Fair warning, some of this is going to sound cryptic right know, as I can't talk too much about a few things, but I will update on these in a bit.

Aurora Borealis - It took longer than expected, but the new album is now done and is currently being shopped around. Hopefully it will be out early 2006.

Insidious Disease - Napalm Death's Shane Embury has taken the bass slot and we are now officially a four piece. There will be some late November rehearsals where the music for the debut album will be finalized. We are hoping to record said album in the spring of 2006.

Unnamed project one - Before I left Norway this past August, I recorded 3 tracks of savagely innovative black metal with members of Spiral Architect, Satyricon, and Lunaris. I will return to Norway in a few weeks to record 6 or 7 more songs for this album which is due out next spring. I understand that we are booked to play Inferno 2006 in Oslo, Norway on April 14th.

Unnamed project two - This was supposed to be the Darkmoon album done with my former Nile bandmate Jon Vesano, but we're going to call it something else. What? We don't know yet, but a demo is finished, and we are in the process of shopping it around so we can record a full album soon. Expect militantdeath/black metal with anti-religious lyrics on this one. It's going to be a killer album.

Okay, the live front is where things really get cryptic. First off, it looks like I'll be going to Japan and Korea in December with soon-to-be-named band #1. Just got news of this, and we're still working out the details, as soon as it's finalized, I'll say who it is, unless of course they mention it first. Then in late January, I will start a 3 week run of select shows in the US, Mexico, and South America with soon-to-be-named band #2. I don't know if I'll be able to talk about this one, as the identities are supposed to be a secret, but in the last few years, the cat has been out of the bag, so I expect it will be common knowledge before long. Either way, I'll post dates on these as soon as I have the final itinerary. Hope to see some of you out there....whereever that may be."
