Blood Red Throne - New Album Recordings Over

Norwegian death metallers Blood Red Throne have issued the following update:

"We finished recording the new album after some weeks of what we like to refer to as 'the BRT curse.' We are very happy with the material and can't wait to get it back from Valle Adzic, who will be mixing the album in the coming weeks. Valle also mixed the 'Altered Genesis' album .'

Blood Red Throne's fourth studio album was recorded at Jailhouse Studios in Horsens, Denmark. The upcoming CD will be the group's first to feature new members Anders Haave (drums) and Vald (vocals). Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Rebirth in Blood", "Come Death", "No New Beginning" and "Slaying the Lamb".

"This time, we aim for a more classic death metal sound, ala Gorguts 'Considered Dead' / Suffocation's 'Despise the Sun' kind of sound," the band previously said. "We have grown tired with the over-produced and fully triggered drum kits that so many bands use today, besides we have taken a slightly new direction with our music and the analog and dynamic sound fits the music better. We have also chosen a different approach to the recording process of the instruments."

Hate Eternal - Parts Ways With Bassist

Acclaimed Death Metal act Hate Eternal has parted ways with bassist Randy Piro. "I am at a crossroads in my life and I feel the need to change direction," Randy writes in a statement. "I will be devoting my creativity to Gigan and my schooling.

"From the deepest pits of my heart I thank Erik Rutan, Derek Roddy, Jared Anderson (may he rest in peace), and everyone in the Hate Eternal family for believing in my abilities, and bestowing upon me the honor of playing in one of the most extreme bands the world has ever heard.

"Hate Eternal has played a massive role in my life, and I will always look upon my time spent jamming with Erik and Derek with warm emotions. I wish Erik Rutan and the band the world and its spoils, for the Hate truly is Eternal..."

Hate Eternal leader Erik Rutan added: "Randy and I both thought this was the right life change for him and I support everything he wants to do for his future. Randy always gave 100% while in the band and I appreciate all he has done for me and Hate Eternal. I wish him nothing but the best in his schooling, career and his life."

Handling the bass duties on Hate Eternal's upcoming CD will reportedly be Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse (although this has not yet been officially confirmed).

Gorgoroth - Guitarist Released From Jail

Norwegian black metal band, Gorgoroth, posted the following message on their website:

"Infernus has been released on parole and is now working on new material, both music and lyrics for an upcoming album, title yet undecided. He is also, as we speak, having meetings with King and Gaahl for possible future touring etc. More info coming up soon."

In February 2005, Infernus was accused and convicted of raping a young woman at an after-party. She claimed she was kept hostage and abused for more than an hour before she managed to flee in just a towel. Infernus was found not guilty of the actual rape, but was still charged with his indifferent attitude as the rape was committed by a friend of his and he did nothing to stop it. According to Wikipedia, he was released on parole from prison March 6th, 2007.

In December 2006, also frontman Gaahl was released from prison. More about Gaahl's release here.

Six Feet Under - Two New Songs Online

Two brand new songs from the upcoming Six Feet Under album "Commandment" are available for listening at this location.

"Commandment" is due on April 20 via Metal Blade Records in Germany (April 23 in the rest of Europe). The track listing is as follows:

01. Doomsday
02. Thou Shall Kill
03. Zombie Executioner
04. The Edge Of The Hatchet
05. Bled To Death
06. Resurrection Of The Rotten
07. As The Blade Turns
08. The Evil Eye
09. In A Vacant Grave
10. Ghosts Of The Undead

In a recent interview with Mark Carras of RockMyMonkey.com, Six Feet Under bassist Terry Butler stated about the upcoming CD, "I would say, if I had to describe the new style, it would be 'Maximum Violence' meets 'Haunted'. . . I'm really psyched about it. I really liked it. We had a good writing experience. We wrote all the music in the studio and it just flowed through. It's pretty upbeat the whole time, but there's some really catchy, groovy riffs. I think SFU fans are going to like it a lot, especially some of the older, the people who've been around for a long time listening to us, it will satisfy them. The last couple records we've kind of, I don't want to say gotten off our style, but we've always tried to be a little bit different. We didn't want to always just put ten records that sounded like 'Haunted'. So we just kind of, I don't want to say experimented, but we just kind of messed around a little bit, certain styles, but I think this is kind of back to what our fans would expect."

Akercocke - Details About New Album Revealed

British dark lords Akercocke have set "Antichrist" as the title of their new album, due on May 28 via Earache Records.

Commented the band: "The concept of "Antichrist" is wonderfully rich. It represents a supreme opposite. The epithet of the great antagonist provided a wonderful metaphoric framework within which to work. We have strived to make elements of the recording as evil as possible. Creating atmospheres that are deliberately uncomfortable. Spurred on by a rage enhanced by the complete disgust with our recent history, we didn't have to dig very deeply to find the malice and rancour sufficient to evoke the spirit of violent antithesis. "Antichrist" is the perfect banner for a collection of songs that are tales of opposition, sanguinary lust and the axiom of our raison d'etre."

Vital Remains - New Cover Art And Controversy

Extreme metal titans Vital Remains have returned with a vicious new slab of blasphemy that promises to strike fear in the hearts of the masses. The much-anticipated new album, "Icons Of Evil", was produced by the renowned Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore) and is set for an April 24 release. The album's striking artwork can be viewed now at this location.

The cover art has already created a great deal of controversy, but the band's founder Tony Lazaro (guitars) refuses to censor his vision in any way. "It is great to see that the cover of our new record has already started some controversy," he said. "Some of our distributors saw the artwork and suggested we change it. The record's scheduled to come out around Easter, and apparently the subject of Christ being nailed to his cross is a bit extra-sensitive around that time. We were told no one would take the CD unless we either changed it or put a slipcase over it. I absolutely refused to change shit, but I still wanted our fans to be able to find the album in their local stores, so we ultimately decided to go with the slipcase. I'm still pretty bummed about it, but this was out of my hands."

More info about "Icons Of Evil" can be found here.
