Naglfar - Finishes Recording New Album
Swedish black metal titans Naglfar have finished recording their new album, "Harvest", tentatively due in early 2007 via Century Media Records. The band has issued the following update:
"Of course there were plenty of problems, including a broken guitar amp. But finally the guitars and vocals are done, thus making us ready for the mixing of the album. We'll start with this on Monday the 26th of November. Some changes and additions have been made in the songs so the final and offical tracklist will be posted soon."
"Harvest" will tentatively include the following "attacks of audial terror" (in no particular order):
01. Into the Black
02. Prayer of Cain
03. The Way of the Rope
04. Harvest
05. Feeding Moloch
06. The Mirrors of My Soul
07. Wargod
08. Plutonium Reveries
09. Odium Generis Humani
Naglfar's latest album, "Pariah", is available now on Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Sheol" was previously described in a Century Media press release as "a flawless work of iniquitous hell-spawned art filled with raging guitar riffs, bludgeoning drums, demonic vocals, that combine with haunting melodies to capture hell's eternal depravity."

Blind Guardian - New 'Song' Available Online
Recently launching a North American tour with Leaves' Eyes in support of "A Twist In The Myth", their Billboard-charting album (#21 on the Top Independent Albums chart and #288 on Billboard's Top Albums chart), Blind Guardian's German roots are never far behind. Featured in the "Betcha Can't Play This" section on Page 34 of the Holiday 2006 issue of Guitar World and on the DVD insert, guitarist André Olbrich explains how being exposed to classical music during childhood has made a definite impression on him as an adult musician, but not everything is composed with classically-tinged trills.
Eager to demonstrate the age-old adage of "All work and no play makes jack a dull boy," vocalist Hansi Kürsch and Olbrich stopped by the Revolver Magazine offices in August to record an impromptu song in two hours. To hear their resulting 40-second opus, go to http://www.revolvermag.com/theunit/index.html and scrolll down to "Click below to hear the entire song!" Additional information is available on Page 44 in the current issue of Revolver.
In honor of Blind Guardian's "Adventures of 'The Unit' feature, Nuclear Blast is giving away Hansi's handwritten autographed lyrics and André's guitar pick used in the creation of the "Snakes Of Destruction" mp3. For more information on how to enter the contest, go to here.

Dark Tranquillity - Finish Recording New Album.
Taken from a recent MySpace blog written by singer Mikael Stanne:
"I can´t believe it....We made it! It´s done and there is nothing I can do about it. Just got back from the studio where everything is now shipped off to Denmark where Tue Madsen will perform his magicky magic on the things we´ve been working on these last 7 weeks.
I just finished the last vocal lines a couple of days ago and it feels sweet. As always with recordings there is alot of stress and selfdoubt but being in a more than familiar environment in Martins studio(Rogue) has helped tremendously. The recordings have not only been smooth and focused but the overall feeling that we are creating something amazing has really driven us through this.
It turned out so different and diverse that the hardest thing for me now is to find a suitable title for the whole thing. How can i sum up in a title something that is everything and nothing, grounded and out there, intorvert and extra-terrestial all at the same time?
Well, keep watching this space and I will let you know soon enough.
Right now I am just so glad it´s done. Anders did a fantastic job grinding and beating (off) in the studio, Micke has delivered some really crushing bass, Martin and Niklas have really outdone themselves with great riffs and truly outstanding solos and Martin B has poured alot of misery and anxiety into his soundscapes.
Now all we do is wait for the mix, and this being our first time mixing out of house so to speak we are really excited to hear what the hell we´ve been up to!"

Ayreon - New Album In The Works
Ayreon the brainchild of Dutch guitarist Arjen Lucassen, has posted the following message on its official web site:
Finally, we are able to bring you some news about Arjen's next recording project. At the end of September 2006, Arjen's new studio was finished and ready to use. The very next day, Arjen went in with his trusted little tape recorder, and papers with dozens of song ideas that he'd been working on for the past year.
He has been in his studio nearly every day (and night) since then, getting the ideas translated into songs. The musical ideas are so extremely varied that only one project could possibly hold them all: Ayreon.
Arjen has already been in contact with some very interesting and talented people to help create a new dimension of the Ayreon Universe. Of course, we'll keep you informed on Arjen's progress over the next months!

Megadeth - New Song Available For Download
MTV.com is hosting an exclusive download of Megadeth's new song, "Gears of War", at this location. The track comes off the group's new album, "United Abominations", tentatively due in March 2007 via Roadrunner Records.
Said Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine about the track: "This was a mix made by Andy Sneap to apply for the job as mixer on this record and I was so impressed I wanted him to help me finish up the last parts as well as cutting two new songs we hadn't planned on releasing. A great start to one of my favorite records to have ever made so far. If the process of writing and tracking, and the energy we felt in the studios is any indication, then this is just the beginning of the rebuilding of the perfect beast!"
A video clip of Megadeth performing "Gears of War" live on October 31, 2006 at Six Flags in Springfield, Massachusetts during the "Gears of War - Match Made In Hell" event has been posted online at YouTube.com.

Pain Of Salvation - New Album Artwork And Track Listing
Sweden's Pain Of Salvation has posted the following update on its official web site:
"The long-awaited 'Scarsick' album is now done, and is expected to hit the stores late January 2007, just a few weeks before the European tour that will start mid-February. The album is (of course) a concept album, and clocks in at 67 minutes, consisting of the following tracks:
01. Scarsick
02. Spitfall
03. Cribcaged
04. America
05. Disco Queen
06. Kingdom of Loss
07. Mrs Modern Mother Mary
08. Idiocracy
09. Flame to the Moth
10. Enter Rain
"The cover artwork and track titles have already spawned a lot of discussions in forums and lists around the net regarding the possibility that 'Scarsick' might actually be 'The Perfect Element' part II in disguise. Interviews with the band will undoubtedly start to pop up in magazines and online the following months, so keep your eyes and ears open...
"Now that 'Scarsick' is finished, the band will focus on finding a new bass player. The first auditions are already scheduled for December, but the quest will be 'as long as it takes to find the right guy.' Applications have been pouring in from all around the world, despite the band's request for a bassist living in Sweden. Thus, focus will be on the 'domestic' applications. But this also means that the field is still open, in case you are hesitating.
"The 'Scarsick' tour is taking shape. The European tour will be taking place in February/March 2007. The band says that more shows are planned for 2007 in other parts of the world, but nothing is 100% confirmed yet."
Pain Of Salvation tour dates:
